I know it was long, so thanks again

bump…

hmmm… do you perhaps go to Wootton? If so your 103 is a scrub :stuck_out_tongue: anyways, you have mediocre grades, good ECs, and good scores (use that ACT, not your SAT), so all the ivies you listed are reaches. I think though, that UVA, NYU, and Georgetown might all be matches, and Berkeley a high match.

I should still apply to ivies right?

Your test scores are very strong, so Berkeley and UVA will probably be a walk in the park for you. The other schools are reach.

Do you know your class rank? Because it would be natural to assume that a Top 50 school might deflate the grades of its students.

My county does not rank, but yes there is a fair amount of deflation

See, without a rank there’s really no way for colleges to infer the amount of grade deflation present in your school.

But aside from that, all of your scores are amazing and your ECs are solid. The UW GPA is, as stated, weak, but a 4.5 weighted is pretty good too.

I don’t think you have a chance at Harvard, but if you EDed to Columbia or Dartmouth, you’d have a great shot.

Well, I’ll apply there and maybe something good might happen. Thanks for your advice.

bump. 10 char

I think you stand a chance at all the schools you listed. What surprises me is your low unweighted GPA, but straight 5s on all of your APs . If these classes are what brought down your GPA, your, then that shows that they were tough classes.

Berkeley, UVA, NYU and i would say if you EA georgetown, you’ll have good chances at all of them.
I’m sure you’ve heard of this, if not though, i would highly recommend you EAing to Chicago and Georgetown at the same time, its killing 2 birds with one arrow.

Your low GPA is the one thats really hurting you right now, I bet your school is really tough though, considering your stellar test scores in sat IIs and ap tests.

Also, what do you plan to major in and what kind of ECs have you geared yourself towards that goal?

Ivy’s might be relatively harder due to the GPA, which I think really sucks (not your gpa, but how they judge GPA from different schools, i mean there are plenty of schools where an A does not translate into 5’s and 800s)… the application process is anything but fair. Good luck!

send the 36 over the 2250 for sure and the 4.5 is solid. all are matches but harvard, stanford, dartmouth and columbia are reaches (as they are for everyone)

Hey Davidoga, about your PM

Chicago and georgetown are both non selective EA, meaning you can early action to them both. (EA is not the same as ED, nor is it SCEA)

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/354075-list-colleges-early-action-early-decision-rolling-admissions.html?highlight=chicago+georgetown

Non-binding EA is only selective at stanford and Yale.

So basically, you could theoretically EA to Mit, chicago, georgetown, and caltech all at the same time without any problems.

Just to clarify: By “selective,” freezingbeast means “single choice.” If you apply EA to Stanford or Yale, you cannot apply early anywhere else.

I agree that Stanford, Harvard, Dartmouth, and columbia would be reaches for you, whereas the other universities would be matches for you.

Congrats on the perfect 36! That’s fantastic! I’d say that your resume is pretty solid, with the exception of, like everyone else said, the grades. You seem to have a plethora of clubs/ECs, with leadership positions, which is great. I’d say that you’d have a shot at any of these schools!

You should definitly still apply to the Ivy’s even if they’re reaches, because they’re reaches for everybody. NYU is a safety for you.

GPA is low, right?

just asking, I dont know how your scool works.

SATdecent, ECs decent.
Great chances.

Return the favor, and
Chance back please? =)

As everyone has mentioned, your GPA (3.6) is really low. But, I bet the school you go to is tough, and probably all, and if not most, of the schools will now that. So, having all of your stats in mind, here’s what I think:

Stanford: reach
Harvard: high-reach
UVA: match
UC Berkeley: match
UChicago: match
Dartmouth: low-reach
Columbia: reach
NYU: safety
Georgetown: probably low-reach
