Please Comment on my chances...

I am from a pretty rural area in Maryland and come from a low income family. There is not much opportunity here where I live but I have tried to do as much as i could with what I could. I have been told that the essays that I wrote to gtown were pretty good. I would just like to have some assurance on what might happen. Thanks

here's my comment, you have way to much crap listed that not a lot of people are going to want to read over. Narrow your list down to include the ECs that you are most involved in and the awards that most matter.

Agreed. That list takes up way more space than it needs to.

On your app it asks you to list by activity and then check off the years you did it...if you do things that way, it takes up much much less space and still says the same thing. Don't list "straight A's" or "sat for SAT's," that's restating things you've already said (SAT scores, GPA). Can you also consolidate all the volunteer/service hours and just list highlights? We don't need to read about each walk you've done.

you have no chance

only important ecs...too much worthless ****

you really need to narrow down your list... many of your ativities are really not necessary to put down, like "taking effetive notes" at Harvard Summer School... and the rest of the stuff you did at Harvard. If you really want the to knwo whwat you did, just send them a transript of your grades. I would say that you have a good chance, but you don't need ALOT of stuff in your list of activities. Colleges will see that as annoying.

Do u live in Ocean Pines? My family vacations in OC every summer. But u have too much crap. If I has the admission officer i probably wouldnt read it. What school r u applyn to? College or Health and Stds?

whoaa, buddy. seriously Alanstewart and the rest of these people are right. you have decent stats and a good GPA, but no one on an adcom is going to want to read through a laundry list of ECs and activities. definitely narrow down your selection to your most important and meaningful. you can even write about them in your essays.

Ha, Ha... I went to Sam Rhine's Genetics Conference this year too! Only not at the same place, lol. That guy is so mean... I can remember him saying to kids in the back, "You want to listen up? You want to get AIDS?" So mean...

Being an Eagle is great. I didn't get my Eagle, so I must envy you. I had to do my project, but I didn't have an time. I feel into the trap that kills 96% of all "would-be" Eagles, Girls and Cars... But, I'm still involved with the programme as a Asst. Scoutmaster (I'm 18 now...) so it's great. But, that should help you.

I would say that you narrow down your activites. Get some good solid ones and then just talk about those. You don't need to throw the kitchen sink at them. In fact, they don't really like it.
