Any info is appreciated but if you happen to know anything about their premed programs,
quality of life, if its in a nice city/town/etc., or dorms, that is what I need to know. I am an international student so I am not familiar with most of this schools or the places they are at other than very general stuff.

Have you checked the College Visits reports here on CC? Have you done a Search on the individual school forums? Have you looked at the Princeton Review website? These are all good sources of information if you haven’t tried them yet.

I have only been looking at the collegeboard website and I have the princeton’s review best 366 college… so thats where I am basing my info in so far. I have a general idea about all of them but it is hard to compare and understand what things actually mean because I am not very familiar with the whole US system having never lived int he US. I am jsut looking for some feedback from people who have experience with this colleges…
i didnt know about the college visits reports on CC so i will definitely check that out thanks!

also try looking at the Fiske Guide To Colleges, use that in addition to the best 368 colleges and you should get a good idea of the colleges.

don’t base your college choices on US News’ rankings though

lol the more I look at usnews ranking, the more I become disappointed because I will never get into top 10 business schools :frowning:
i think jvm21 is asking about the background of the colleges, like what academics are the strongest, campus…

Trinity University: known for its good science and premed programs as well as its arts programs, has a great communications, education, business and study abroad program, in San Antonio which is a great city
Miami University: known for its business/management programs, however greek life dominates campus and can be very segregated
Ursinus College: strongest majors are biology, chemistry (90% acceptance rate to med school), economics, and arts
Vanderbilt: Strong in Premed, Engineering, Mathematics, Sociology, Psychology, and Education
University of Richmond: Strong in business, premed, and leadership programs
North-Eastern (Boston): strong in business, health sciences, engineering, computer and information sciences
USC: strong in Cinema, journalism, business, engineering and architecture
Notre Dame: catholic university with many strengths
Pepperdine: strong study abroad program, beautiful campus
Villanova: strong business, and engineering
Siena: strong in Biology and Pre-med (Siena College-Albany Medical College Program is a program that focuses on humanities and community service), and business

I’d go to Notre Dame. It is perhaps one of the best known schools in the country because of its academic and football programs. The fact that it is a catholic university means that there is a dedication on undergraduate education and you can get many resources a big university offeres while feeling smaller. School spirit is amazing and volunteering, clubs and sports are amazing. Plus, Notre Dame has a policy to meet all demonstrated financial need.

Don’t go to Miami University! very cliquish and segregated school

wow pierre i may need to ask u some background about colleges in my list :D

thanks a lot…
yeah I agree with you pierre notredame would be one of my top choices if i get in…
can you look at my profile and grades and tell me what chances you give me for this universities?
I am born in the US but lived all my life in Mexico. 11 and 12 grade in a private boarding school in canada which is apparently well known in the states by private universities. SAT scores: 1830 total (630 CR, 600 M, 600W) Thats from my first time
taking it I retook it but results arent out yet…
My school dosnt do GPA, my average is 84.
Taking AP’s (Bio, Psychology, Environmental Science, Micro/Macro Economics, and Spanish) then regular Chem, Math and English). So far A’s and B’s in all of them.
(86% is an A at my school)
EC’s: Soccer Team, Guitar Player (Small concerts, chapel for school, etc), Learning German so hopefully trilingual soon, Boarding Prefect, Admissions Council, Peer Councelling, and some others…
Thanks alot this will really help

which would you call safety, match, or reach schools for me???
thankyou!

Here is what I think:
Trinity University - Match
Miami University - Safety
Ursinus College - Safety
Vanderbilt - Reach
University of Richmond - Reach/Match
Northeastern - Match
USC - Reach
Notre Dame - Reach
Pepperdine - Match
Villanova - Reach/Match
Siena - Safety

how is 86% an A?

If you do not get into Notre Dame, I suggest that you look at Vanderbilt and the University Of Richmond as your second and third choices.

Thanks pierre,
Yeah, I think my most realistic ones are Trinity, U. of Richmond, and Villanova.
(I like trinity because it is a descent school and it is really closet o home in Mexico)
I dont know how is it 86% it just is… it is supposed to be ranked among the top 10 schools in Canada so it is pretty strong academically, not many people get over 90 because it is hard so I guess they made A 86% and up to level things up.

In your experience what other school that you know of would you recommend me to apply as a good safety, match, and a realistic reach?

hmm I have to go do my homework now, but I’ll give you a couple of suggestions after I’m done!

anyways I’m a senior applying for high school too!

sounds good thanks

nice what schools are u looking at? how do you know so much about all of this?

I’m looking at some public schools strong in engineering since my grades are about a B average, but my test scores are nice.

I’ve gotten college brochures from every college on earth. You have no idea how much effort colleges take to recruit students. Also, I’ve read many books and articles about colleges! (I have too much time sometimes)

haah nice yeah im a B/B+ average aswell,
i dont know much i jsut decided to apply to US schools a few months ago so I am pretty much new at this stuff…
anyways ill wait for your reply about the other schools when you have time,
