PLEASE compare these four schools:

There are four schools that D is looking at right now that have little or NO comment/thread related to them on CC. Any and all info would be appreciated but particularly information from students/parents past & current.

In no particular order they are:
University of Utah - SLC, UT
Northern Michigan University - Marquette, MI
Montana State U - Bozeman, MT
Colorado State - Fort Collins, CO

Help!!! D has visited all of them(some unfortunately during the summer), and has thoroughly researched their websites but needs more...

Please help!!!

I know people at all of them except Northern Michigan, and they all are enjoying their college experience. I can't really tell you any more since these aren't schools I'm applying to and I'm not really close to the people that go there, but I do know that they're happy. My parents went to U of U about 30 years ago, but I don't really know much about it academically besides that it has a really good medical school. Sorry that's not a lot of help!

Actually it does help as so far there hasn't been anything negative said about any of them from people we know personally. This just reinforces that view.

Try asking this on the Parents Forum as well.

Believersmom, I know of someone who goes to MSU and loves it.

We looked at both University of Montana and Northern Michigan. Montana was attractive becasue they seem committed to being the art cultural capital of the state. Beautiful scenes were attractive as well. My D is an artist and creative writer type person. Montana just seemd to far away.
Then we looked at Northern Michigan University and D just fell in love with it. They have a brand new art and design center. We did the open house and tour at NMU. Marquette is a wonderful town. The medium size of the campus was just right. Daughter is a vegan as well and found a hugh support group up there in the U.P. (what a surprise) NMU also fit her creative writing pursuits as it has a masters and undergrad program and is recognized in "Poets & Writers".
I am perfectly happy with the lack of posts on NMU on these boards. We have an oldsaying here in Chicago: The restaurant was a perfect place to eat until it got a rave review now you cant get in because it's too popular. Same goes for this college its a gem of a college: just dont tell anyone!

Theresa-
Is your D there now or will she be a freshman in the fall '08?

What about adding Bowling Green in Ohio to your daughter's list. I know a number of happy, engaged students with her academic profile who are thriving there.

I have a number of friends who went to Utah and loved it.

She is entering college in fall 08.

Bumping to keep on front page...
Thanks for the input so far. Please keep it coming.
