The school I go too is a part of the New Tech foundation. They emphasize a new type of approach where students are familiarized with an authentic work environment. Our work centers heavily around presentations, professionalism, becoming acquainted with the uses of technology in today's world, and of course normal high school content. I took one ap class freshmen year and the rest honors. I took all honors classes sophmore year and now 3 aps and the rest honors junior year. Depending on how many APs are provided during my senior year, I will have atleast 4 AP classes done by the time I graduate. While I may not have as many APs as others, I will have taken the most rigorous curriculum possible. When I graduate, I will also have 40+ hours of experience shadowing people in their jobs. This program was implemented to give us a visual view of the real world and is very similiar to interning except I could watching what a CEO does in their job etc.

The New Tech School was opened in my district when I was going to be a sophmore, so I will be a part of its first graduating class. I wasn't involved in any major clubs over at the other high school during my freshman year, and when I went to New Tech. there weren't many clubs. I've gotten involved in ec's mostly in junior year, because the opportunities have presented themselves.

My ecs suck. I know, and I'm freaking out. Stern is my ideal choice, and I don't think I'm good enough.

Okay dude seriously? You have a great chance of getting in, you shouldn’t be going freaking crazy because you don’t have a perfect score. Just make sure you have a good essay and bring up your grades. Damn, you have no reason to be so nervous.

Why would you think you couldn’t get in?? WHY?!?!?!?

I know I have alright scores and grades, but my ecs are crap. Don’t lots of kids with stats just like these apply to Stern? Also, the only business related ec I have is job shadowing people in management positions.

I know a few people who got into Stern and their credentials were exactly like yours. Very high GPA/SATs and they participated in clubs, but no leadership stuff. The GPA/SAT is what is going to get you in. But just to be a stronger applicant, I sugest you take up at least one or two leadership roles in clubs. You can even start a club.

I still think you have a good shot either way.

Alright scores? You have amazing scores.

you are in

My stats are worse than yours but I still got into stern for te upcoming semester. As long as your essays were good am showed some form of uniqueness then you will get in

Oh and I had no business activities on my app when I applied

I don’t see how a 2250 is phenomenal. So many kids on here have higher scores, and thanks for all the advice guys.

well, nyu stern doesnt give a flyin **** about the writing section, so u got a 1560/1600 which is a very good score… so dont worry bro

but guys, remember that stern is a business school, and there is little to no business activities in your application. unless you can sway them somehow else, good luck. academically, you are fit.

the only business aspect of my application for stern was the part where i paid the money to send in the application… -_-… actually, thats a lie… still, its stern, its great but u can still get in w/o business credentials…its about ur potential to suceed

Yeah dude, you’re in. Unless something incredible happens, you’ll be in there like swim wear

You definitely have a good shot. I have similar stats to yours and I got in, but if you want to be safe then apply ED and work hard on your essays.

Thanks again for the advice. I am applying ed for sure.

And how vital are business related ecs?

I didn’t have any business related ecs, lower SATs than yours (but higher GPA) and was accepted. I think you have a great shot as long as you take atleast one leadership position, keep up your current grades, and work hard on your essays. Good luck!

If you are considering applying to NYU Stern ED, please have a financial discussion with your parents, as NYU does not guarantee to meet 100% of need. There are currently several threads on CC relating to the awful financial aid students have received from NYU. Apply with the expectation of paying full-fare.

We are fine with paying full fare, but thanks for the heads up gibby. Stern is honestly to god my #1 choice regardless of anything.

You have an excellent shot, don’t blow it though
