Does this mean I can't send my deferal letter to my regional admissions officer? I dont trust faxes!!

That’s so weird, I was just wondering about this exact same thing.
I was planning on faxing my thank-you-note-thing to the admissions office. even though I don’t trust faxes either, I’m just going to hope that it gets there :/

btw were you going to send it to your regional adcom or to the general admissions office?

I was going to send it to the regional adcom, that way it would be a little more “personal” since he’s the one advocating for us in panel. then again he’s probably the one who got us deferred -.-
screw it, I’m sending my snail mail to my regional adcom. I…just…can’t…fax

yeah I know what you mean about it being more personal to send it to your adcom. however I emailed mine twice and never got a reply, sooo…I think I’m going to chance it and just send it by fax =x

Why would you want to send a deferral letter anyway? Your regional admissions officer already knows your status.

They meant if you had any new updates, like awards and such. If instead, you meant that you wanted to write to your admissions officer a letter stating Yale is your first choice and all, then fax it as they asked. Too bad you don’t like faxes; they don’t want the extra paper.

And you don’t want to annoy the adcoms by disregarding their directions, do you?

Yeah, that’s what I meant - my ‘deferral letter’ is a combination of award updates and a ‘Yale is my first choice’ statement. The website advised us to fax it, so I’ll just go do it and keep my fingers crossed that it gets to them.

same, my letter is 1) updates on new awards 2) reaffirmation of first choice

well first I dont have a fax machine, and second, doesnt a fax come as paper as well?

with the number of faxes they must be receiving I would think they have a computer receiving them not a simple paper fax machine. So I’d say it is as good as sending an email

“You can fax it to this number FAX: 203-777-6120. Write a cover letter in which you clearly identify who you are and the purpose of the material. If you have further questions, try calling the main office (number can be found on admit website) or emailing student.questions@yale.edu.”

This is what they told me
