I'm extremely nervous guys. Sorry about being "one of those people" that ask about chances but I really need to know if I stand in a decent chance for UCR. Here's my stats.

UC GPA: 3.5-3.6 (I need to recalculate it but it's not impressive)
ACT: 33 (English:34, Math:34, Reading:28, Science:35)

AP/HONORS: AP Comp Sci A (4), AP English Composition (2 hahaha), Honors 10th grade english, Honors Computer Science C++, Honors Pre Calc, Honors Physics.
*I got a "C" first semester for physics and tried to make it up by self studying the AP Physics B exam which I scored a 5. Hopefully admissions will see through that grade...

SAT IIs:
Math II: 780
Physics: 760

ECs:
-junior varsity Softball (freshman and sophomore year but absolutely hated it)
-president of Video Games Club (sophomore and junior year. Will be pres again senior year)
-Robots/Engineering Club (junior year but I quit softball to devote my time to this club)
-Bible Club (freshman, sophomore, and junior)
-Archery (two years)
-NHS (1 year)

My goal is to study engineering (Electrical or computer) but I'm nervous I won't get in. Do I have a shot even with that fluke in physics? I got a B second semester.

One more note is that I attend the best public high school in California. Like #1 so it's extremely cut throat and competitive.

Senior Schedule:
AP Calc BC
AP Stats
AP Chem
Honors Comp Sci Python
gov/econ
english 4

Not a chance you won’t be accepted. Your stats are killer.

You have a very good chance. As long as you write an acceptable essay, I see no way you can be denied.

I believe you’d be fine, I got in with a 3.8 GPA and ACT Composite 24; I even made it to the Honors program O.o YOU SHOULD NOT WORRY!
If you focus on your personal statement and sell yourself right, you would totally be in. :))

honest truth, I’m a 3rd year transfer and last time I checked my gpa was a 2.9 … and I barely met requirements, but on the other hand I wrote a decent essay – focus on that in addition describe more about your life revolving on the major you plan to take

UC GPA: 3.5
SAT : READING 520, MATH 500, WRITING 450
AP’S: Spanish Language (5), AP Government/Pol, AP Calculus
Honors: Honors Biology, Honors Geometry
Community Service Hours: Around 300
Extracurriculars: Secretary (Senior Council), Key Club (Member), Mural Club (Secretary), AP Calc Club (Member)
SAT II: Math 2 (expecting a 600) , US History (exp. 600)

Interested in Political Science major…

CHANCE ME PLEASE !

It seems to me you are in good shape for other UC’s as well. Is your UCR your first choice or your default choice?

Whoa. I completely forgot about this thread. But thank all of you for your input. I remember losing sleep over the summer because I was scared of getting rejected. I’m now deciding between chemical and electrical engineering.
UCR is a second choice for me. My first choice is UCD. I’m going to apply to UCD as a math major because I know I won’t have a chance as an engineering major. Moral of the story: work super hard to get a high gpa in high school. I’m also applying to all of the other UCs besides SD. Don’t hate me but I personally just don’t like SD. Riverside is ideal because of the housing prices. I was looking at apartments near the college and they are affordable because some of my extremely good friends are set on going to UCR so I’m going to move in with them. Plus I hear there are a lot of clubs and open mics so as a comedian that’s a huge plus. Its mostly because of finances I’m going to UCR. Great school!

@standupcomic - your GPA is below avg but ACT score is great. I think you’ll get in at Riverside - Davis is a reach.

@luistererorjr - i think UCR is a stretch. Include some CSUs in your app process. How about CSU LB, Fullerton and Chico? I think you are a good candidate for all 3.

Ok so I calculated my UC gpa and I have a UC gpa of a 3.71. Its definitely higher than I expected.
