Please don't hate me!

Warning: This is a "should I retake good SAT" thread!

I remember reading threads about those crazy people scoring over 2300 wanting to retake and thinking to myself "what is wrong with these people?!" That was before I ever took the SAT and now I have something to admit.

I am definitely crazy.

So to all non-haters, but instead true understanders, this is my predicament. I have received a 2300 (M 720 CR 800 W 780) on my first december (junior) SAT. At first I was completely thrilled and extremely relieved that I was done so early. But then I got to thinking about my math score and I know that I can get an 800, if I just test a little better on the day. However, I was happily surprised at my CR and W scores and I know that I was extremely lucky for these scores, and cannot imagine ever receiving such scores again.

Now for the superscore potential, should I retake for the Math section, or leave it as it is? I know it is unlikely to get over 2300 total again, but I know I could improve my Math score by up to 80 points. Is it worth it? Oh and I'm not majoring in any math/science related subject, but am currently in AP Calc BC (math is a strong subject for me).

After someone knocks some sense into me, here is another question. Do I take the ACT as well? Or is my SAT sufficient?

Sorry I suck, and I'm trying hard not to be braggy, but my parents and friends don't really understand SAT scores and I have no one to advise me! Thanks in advance.

You don't need to take the ACT amd you don't need to retake the SAT unless it's going to make you obsess about the possibility of scoring higher!

you hit that point where it doesn't really matter. i think anything above 2300 is BASICALLY the same and won't make a significant impact on the your admissions decisions. there are most important things you can do.

and nah, i wouldn't try taking the ACT either. you've done a really good job already. CONGRATS :)

I think you should retake it if you think you have a good chance of getting the math to an 800. Your superscore will jump up a lot.

If you're a very fast test taker and typically finish SAT sections like 10-15 minutes before limits are up, consider trying a sample ACT. Unless you can score 35-36, it's not really going to help. But you can test without reporting, which is a plus.

The superscore potential keeps tempting me! But I know that my 2300 will probably go down. Is my total score going down not worth raising a superscore? I've gotten 800 Math's on a couple practice tests, but I just made careless errors on the real one. And does getting a 35-36 on the ACT help at all, or is it just a waste of time? Thanks for all the help everyone!
