Frankly, unless you have a hook you haven’t mentioned, I don’t really think you have a feasible chance. If you’re willing to shell out money for the application fee, by all means try, but don’t have your heart set on it.

It’s difficult to overcome poor grades and test scores. Still, I admire your valiance.

There’s something you should ask yourself: What could I offer Brown that no one else could? If your answer’s sufficient, you might just be accepted.

And I completely agree with the sentiments above. If you’ve got the cash, why not apply? I mean, there’s only a risk. Right?

Edit: By “poor” I mean relative to the mean of applicants accepted at Brown. No intent to disparage!

yeah thanks teenage_cliche and thedailypursuit…you know? the funny thing is i really did ask myself “what can i offer brown that noone else can???”…so you people think, that if i clearify and portray my interest in Brown,i might acctually have a slight chance?

will be honest and say because you’re an international student, it makes it all the harder for you statwise. I’d say focus on the essay – sometimes schools higher up accept students based on essays and things. My friend’s cousin was from Taiwan and scored ~1800 on his SATs…but his perseverence was so strong and difficult circumstances that Stanford accepted him. Really rare case, but it could serve as a source of hope that maybe you’ll get accepted

oh wow,thanks!..wow you people give me hope…no,i’ll make it a point to write the best essay possible, and im going to show them how interested i am in the subject im majoring in and how determined i am to get into Brown…thanks:D

i am the realistic side of this issue, and I would say that you should save yourself a bunch of money. I dont know if Brown makes special cases, but honestly, hte GPA isnt there and the SAT isnt there either, unless you have something that really stands out, Brown isnt to be expected

I dont think you have a shot gpa/sat wise. However, you should still definitely apply. If you get in wow. If not then oh well, 70 bucks down the drain. Just dont eat out for 2 weeks. Just rock your essay
