Please Don't Laugh

I am seriously considering PGing for a year and will only do if i dont get into these schools....well my stats 2.6 gpa straight A's this year hopefully goes up, 610m 540v 520w(10essay) (1670), very good rec's, football wrestling and track, volunteer youth football coach, tutor at local mosque, and football captain, just really didn't try hard in school until I realized it was tooo late, My rec's and essay will be solid. Im in state Massachusetss, and of Pakistani decent.....really need help, if i dont have a good chance at these schools i mite have to start looking at prep schools...

Umass-amherst
U of Vermont
U of New Hampshire
Hofstra
Bryant

I really appreciate it, thanks in advance

I think you'll get into UMass and Hofstra. I'm not too familiar with the other schools. If you get rejected from UMAss, it'll be because of your GPA.

thanks for the response.

please i need more input plus like a percentage would help

I was a student at Hofstra last year, and I'm sure you'll get in there. I don't know anything about the other schools, but you should definitely apply to Hofstra.

thanks, howd u like it??

anymore help will be greatly appreciated on any of the other schools

bump.....any input from the afternoon crowd?

you'll get into UNH
UVM is a reach

Do a year or two at a local CC and then transfer practically anywhere.

CC isnt really an option for me, my parents def. want me to go to a 4 year university or else i pretty much let them down and they would be laughed upon in the community so PG-ing would be my other option....any other help

whats PG ing?

I come from the same GPA in such as you so here's what I've learned. Go to the mid-west. It just appears tougher to get into tier one school then it does here in the mid-west. If you don't mind a bigger college, you'll be able to go to a great school despite your GPA in such. There's a website made for students like you and I that I had designed. You should take a loook at it, it could really help.

Ok...CC is MUCH cheaper than a PG, plus you'd be earning college credit. I think your parents need to not care what the "community" thinks about them and care about your future! With that said, I agree with joev. Go to CC and then you have much wider options to go to the college of your dreams!

PGing wouldnt be a bad idea, you could really improve your chances at better schools if you do well in a PG year

What's a PG year? Gap year?

Its post-graduate, it's like adding a 5th year of high school, so college's get to see an extra years of work plus i could inprove my recruiting chances for my sports, ive gottencalls from d1aa-d3 coaches but no scholarships, so maybe that could help too, i get to take the sat's again and again, and get my gpa a lot higher, my counsler said it was an option and some prep schools have contacted me but its not really what i want, i rather go to a 4 year university and not be a year back, just wanted to see what my chances were, or should i start contacting these prep schools back.

any last minute help....im assuming im not screwed, and can get into one of these colleges?

hofstra is a good school....u will think its a good school i live 20 minutes away from itt and have gotten a good look at it and theres this big bridge that goes over the highway(if ur not afraid of heights) that u can see a lot of things...its cooler then it sounds...I used to go to day camp there when I was little and am trying to do some citing..

Do not let the high admission numbers reported for U of New Hampshire fool you. Depending upon the chosen major I know of kids waitlisted with a 3.0 GPA and SATs of 1200 (math/ verbal).

I think you're in at Bryant too. I agree that UVm and UNH are question marks.

i aggree with LESMIS. I went to Hofstra, and its much cooler than it sounds. It's a good school but if you don't like playing dodgeball across a major highyway-type street (on Hempstead Turnpike you are the ball and the cars try to hit you - let's see who wins...), you have to walk across the unispan (the big uphill bridge) to get to the other side of the campus. The campus is a national arboretum, and it is absolutely beautiful all of the time (you get fined alot of money for picking the flowers!). There are alot of resources for students and the dorms don't absolutely suck (that much, anyway).I think you will get in and love it. It's definitely a college for college students, and there's plenty to do (considering NYC's a 45 minute LIRR ride away!). You should check it out and definitely apply!
