Please don't tell me I have to go to FSU...

because I probably won't get accepted to UF. Chance me, CC. Please!

So, I did not do too well freshman/sophomore years of high school, but junior year was great. Huge upward trend.

I'm white a white girl from a large public school in central Florida.

I have around an unweighted GPA of 3.5 and weighted 4.0-4.1
Top 12%
I will be top 10% after 1st semester with a higher GPA (3.6 uw)
Shooting for at least a 2100 on SATs come October
AP World = 4
AP American History = 4
AP Lang = 4
AP Euro = 4

5 AP classes senior year and 1 community college class.

Total of 9 AP classes and all honors classes when available.

Community service will be at least 3 hours a week.

A few clubs, not an officer of anything.

I hope to paint myself in my applications as a lover of literature (which is true). This can also somewhat explain my lack of involvement in clubs.

Thoughts?

THANK YOU SO MUCH, CC! I AM A LOST FOOL WITHOUT YOU!

Have you taken either the SAT or ACT yet? not just your “hoping for score” lol

Yes, I took the SAT for the first time in May. I got 680 reading, 540 math, and 600 writing. That’s a 1220 out of 1600, and an 1820 combined. Not the best, I plan on doing a LOT better.

FSU says the feeling is mutual. Apply to UF with UCF as a back up.

In at UF. Not in at Florida State.

^^ Def NOT TRUE. UF is to rectangles as FSU is to squares. I understand you have a biased standpoint, and you’re probably bitter because UF rejected you guys (jk) but if one of your children wasn’t attending FSU you would realize UF is better, and not even a little better but A LOT better.

I will concede UF has a better engineering program. That’s about it. The OP should just go to UF, UCF or USF.

anon44, you are a lost fool, with or without CC. FSU doesn’t want attitudes like yours.

I was accepted to UF (MY backup) but my first choice was FSU, and I am loving it.

So do us all a favor and go spend your money on SAT prep books instead of the FSU app fee so that UF will be blessed with your presence.

Like sunnyflorida said, UCF can be your backup.

sunnyflorida, parent2noles, Nolette, and probably others…

I’m sorry I offended you all. I do like FSU; I will be applying there. I’m particularly interested in their English and Pre-law programs as they’re supposed to be the best in the state. However, I’m somewhat confident that I could be accepted to FSU, but I’m not very sure that I could be accepted to UF. Therefore, I come to CC asking for advice and realistic probabilities. This IS in the Gator section, and their rivals ARE the Noles, so I thought that I’d make my title a little more interesting and perhaps appealing (only in a joking fashion) to the UF community. My goal was to get responses, not to bash FSU.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have titled this thread as I did, but you can’t deny that I got quite a few responses…

Again, I’m sorry for offending.

Don’t worry about offending anyone. This “debate” between FSU and UF is endless and generally all in good fun.

Good luck on your search. Have fun. :)
