Please evaluate this, and tell me it's not just me exaggerating.

Yes, I am freaking out again (:D:D).
Ok, I have spend a LOT of time writing a very personal and IMO interesting statement about my mother. It was about how I was born two months early, how we didn't have food to eat at some point, how she supported me and so on and so forth. And after a lot of work that was 'praised' by my GC, somebody says it's not intellectual enough, and even though it flows quite nicely, that is not what they want. They want a demonstration of one's intellect. So, understandably i start questioning..and so I resorted to my lovely CC in order to resolve the mystifying (to me only i guess :D) predicament..SO??

It sounds like you're writing a statement demonstrating your mother's strength, not yours. Write about something that shows how good you are.

nope. Perhaps I should have outlined it better. I show the connections and I talk about how that has affected me and shaped me.

I think it's unfortunate that someone would tell you that speaking about how your unique family experience has shaped you is not a good demonstration of your intellect and your values. Write about what is important to you and it will shine through.

Thanks a lot. I hoped it was pathetic, and I am glad it turned out that way.
