Please give me some advice

I am an international student. This is my second year in the United States. I am a Sophomore this year. I really like NYU and would definitely apply. This is my information, and could you please give me some advice on what should I do to get better chances? I got all As in Freshman year. I had the highest percentage in my English 9, World History and Algebra II in my whole grade. I was involved in math team, Leo club( community service), and drama club. I volunteered to be an usher in theatre. I had done 40 hours of community service. (I know it's not enough :(

I transfer to another school this year. These are the classes that I am taking this year: Sophomore English, IB physics SL, Pre Cal A( I will try to test out this week), US history, Acting, Health, Spanish I. I am planing on joining the acting club, Asian Affairs Club, Community Service club, and maybe Math Club.

I play golf with my dad but not in school. I am not really into sports.

I really like acting since I was in third grade. I had acted in some small movies when I was in elementary school. But since English is not my first language, I get shy and unconfident easily in my acting class. My new school has good art program. They have 4 plays a year. There is a tryout for a musical this Friday. I am conflicting whether should I go or not. I am not good at singing. I do want to have more experience on stage. I found out that the rehearsals are everyday after school till 7:00, and the plays are on October. I am afraid if it will affect my grades. I am new to the school. The classes here might be more challenging. I am also thinking to try out for another plays later this school year. But the first quarter is usually the easiest quarter in the year. I am really conflicting now.

I know my informations are all messed up. But please give me some advice.

Someone please help me. The tryout
is tomorrow :(

There’s no harm in auditioning, because even if you don’t get it, you won’t have any regrets. And if you DO get in and decide not to do it, you’ll have a major confidence boost as someone who won over the judges.

Good luck tomorrow!

Thank you  If I will be in the play and I have to rehearse everyday, do you think that will that hurt my grade?

you’ll have less time to study, that’s for sure. But I really don’t think that will hurt your grades. It seems everyone somehow finds his/her way to cope with heavy schedule, and I hope you will too  cheers!

btw, could you chance me possibly? thanks!
