Hi. I am an African American sophmore, soon to be junior, in Mississippi. I took the ACT my first time as a Freshman. At that time I had heard about the ACT, but never really cared to really look into it or learn about it. My scores at that time were horrible.

I was sad and embarrassed with these scores, but i expected it because I was completely unaware of the time limits. therefore i guessed on almost a quarter and almost half of the questions on the test. I took the ACT again this year, but still didn't really study. However, i was much more aware with the time limits. this time i was okay wiht my scores but still not proud or happy.

I would like to know whether or not my goal of a 32+ is attainable with much more practice and determination. I'm looking forward to feedback, with this being my first thread and post. Thanks in advance!!!

I would kill for a 32 plus but right now I’m just shooting for 30+. Just practice practice practice man. I’ve done minimal studying since I took the test in June and on a Full practice test I took a few days ago I pulled

not a drastic improvement but pretty good for the tiny amount of studying I did. Now I’m really booking it for the September test. I figure two months of solid study and I’ll be golden. You should definitely try the same. I’m using sparknotes, mcgraw hills’s 10 practice tests, barrons 36, and the red book, along with miscellaneous online resources

Hey I’m from Mississippi too! Mrs. peggy varnado gives ACT classes in jackson periodically. I used her for the PSAT and it was a great class. (You take this in your junior year and you should consider taking it. It is the qualifying test for national merit scholar). Also use the red book. It is great.

Oh ok thanks a lot. I took the Psat I think I got a score of 186 but my counselor said I needed a 200 to become a semifinalist this coming year. Thanks I’ll definetly look into that.
