<p>Hi,
I'm a junior from New Jersey getting ready to fill out my college apps next year. I'm interested in (in no particular order):
Yale, Princeton (both parents went there), Brown, Vassar, Wesleyan University (CT) (Grandfather, aunt, and uncle went there), Rutgers, Swarthmore, Haverford, NYU, Georgetown, American (This list will probably decrease in size as I make college visits)</p>
<p>Does anyone have suggestions for how I can strenghten my app? My passion is politics. Right now I'm trying to find a political internship. Next summer, I hope to do something politics-related. I also plan on getting at least one of my recs from a teacher who has taught be in a politics class.</p>
<p>My stats are:</p>
<p>SATS- Will hopefully do well. On PSAT last year, I got 69 (CR), 70 (M), 75 (W). I didn't study or got much sleep the night before.</p>
<p>Academics:
School: Highly competitive public school
GPA: 4.0 (UW), ~4.5 (W)</p>
<p>Freshman Year:<br>
Honors Biology (was one of ~twenty students selected to skip Earth Science), Honors Geometry, Chorus, Honors English 9, Spanish 2, Orchestra, World History (Honors was not offered), P.E.</p>
<p>Sophomore Year:
Honors Chemistry, Honors Algebra 2, Select Choir (My school's elite a cappella group; we performed at Lincoln Center and Disney World), Honors English 10, Spanish 3, Orchestra (performed at Disney World), Honors US History, P.E.</p>
<p>Junior Year:
AP Chemistry, Honors Pre-Calculus, Select Choir, Honors English 11, Spanish 4, AP Politics and Government, AP US History, PE</p>
<p>Extra-curriculars:
*Forensics (9-11) (6 hrs/week, 20 wks/year)- President since end of 9th Grade; qualified for and competed in State Novice Lincoln Douglas Debate Championships last year
*Marching Band (9-11) (20+ hrs/week, 12 wks/year)- Band is very competitive and competes at East Coast Championships every year; Performed at Disney World last year; I will hopefully be drum major next year; I have a varsity letter for this activity (no joke!)
*Model Congress/Model UN (9-11) (6 hrs/week, 8 wks/year)- Have served on Security Council twice; Last year I got Best Delegate Award on Security Council and Gavel Award (for being best Congresswoman on my committee) at Model Congress
*Newspaper (10-11) (6hrs/week, 20 wks/year)- Editor of Current Issues section
*Church Activities (3hrs/week, 40 wks/year)- Youth Liaison to Board of Church and Society (I help organize fundraisers for external causes and raise Church awareness of social causes)
*Volunteering- Repair houses for underpriviliged one week every summer, Counselor for Vacation Bible School one week every summer, Assistant Coach for Middle School Debate Team (3hrs/week) (8wks/year)<br>
