Thanks!

ed pool is less competitive and rd pool is more competitive based on cc stats profiles. But i do agree for more top tier colleges, EA/ED is more competitive than rd pool =D
or since we go to the same school check our acceptance stats website...people w/ low stats who got in=ed pool
---ok anyhow...stats isn;t everything =D

ok let me do more calculations...O.o...i should really be doing other things...
so in order to have had a 27% admit rate jhu must have had a 25% admit rate under rd plan in 2006
even if the applicant pool is less competitive which is doubtful, the admit rate is lowered by 50%

Actually I can solve this debate quite quickly...

The RD pool is much more competitive than the ED pool. The greater volume is one reason. The lower admit rate is proof - ED admit rate is traditionally between 40-50%, the RD admit rate is usually lower than 20%.

However, don't make the easy assumption that the quality of an ED applicant is weaker than an RD applicants. The size of the applicant pools are quite different. And actually ED and RD admits typically are equally in the end when looking at academic statistics such as GPA, test scores, rigor, etc.

And once again, if you are basing your assessments on the CC stats profiles, you really will never be accurate. There is a huge difference between the 20 or so people who post on the stats profiles and the 14000+ applicant pool we will receive.

I think you are competitive at most schools ranked 10-20 in USNews; however, your EC's, awards, and test scores are not really enough to give you a good shot at Harvard or Yale. Good luck.

Hopkins: slight reach
UVA: match (since you're in-state)
Willaim & Mary: match
Yale: not gonna happen
Harvard: not gonna happen
Vanderbilt: high match
Auburn: safety
Mary Wash: never heard of it

mmei i did not take a average i just basically approx # of ed applicants*ed admit rate and take the result of that and substract it from the admitted and then i take that result and divide it by the total applicants with the ed applicants substracted

Sorry,LizzieE! Somehow my eye just missed those lines! I actually looked at those IBs and EC (which r awesome) U've a really good chance(I never dare to say more than that since I don't have real good knowledge on individual colleges). But from my experience I can atleast tell u that u've a fair chance. But for Harvard or Yale, hmmmmm....... u've to find out sth to show them that u stand out from the long pool of applicants who have similar stats like yours. Best of Luck!
