I have completed several courses in edx and Coursera with a Verified Certificate in Physics amd Astronomy. I am also going to major in Physics, so will these courses be useful in the college admissions process other than the knowledge I gained from them. What do you guys think?
I doubt it.
Admissions committees need to see (at a minimum) that you have completed the coursework necessary to be successful at their school in your intended major.
Maybe it helps simply because you’ve demonstrated interest in your intended major by doing extra work that wasn’t required. But I’m not sure how much it helps. Obviously your grades and scores are going to matter a lot more.
@"Erin’s Dad" @JustOneDad @SansSerif I am already doing the IB diploma Programme is which rigorous as it is, and I have high grades in all my subjects. I just wanted to know if by doing these extra courses on top of the already rigorous high school curriculum, would I have any benefit showing the effort I’ve put in it specially to universities like MIT and Caltech, which are very hard to get into.
I don’t think this is something that most people have any experience with.
