Keep in mind i was stuck for 5 minutes and had to turn to personal examples. Please be honest and offer constructive criticism. If anyone remembers, i wrote my essay on here "if heroes still exist today" and received some good advice. Hopefully there was some improvement in this essay (especially since my examples suck)!

ASSIGNMENT: Do people accomplish more when they are allowed to do things in their own way?

Some of the best accomplishments are sometimes the product of an individual taking his own self-preferred route. Through my own personal experiences and studies this is extremely clear.
To begin with, personally I feel that one should not always follow a set plan of action. This has always been and continues to be relevant in my life. Currently I am taking multiple science classes that include physics and chemistry. My two teachers for these respective subjects are complete foils of one another. My physics teacher explains that there are various ways to solve a problem and he is fine with whatever "route" we talk. On the other hand, my chemistry teacher is extremely dogmatic and will only accept her way. Prior to the test, rather foolishly, I continued to solve problems the way I felt most comfortable. When test day arrived and I had to switch to my teachers method, I worked much slower and received a poor grade on the test. Without a doubt, I would have been able to accomplish more and perform better if I had been able to use my own method.
Another example is related to that of the New York Yankees and their specific coaching strategies utilized in the mid 1990s. Prior to this, the team had been playing poorly for a few decades. The owner, George M. Steinbrenner continued to insist on draconian coaches. When the quiet Joe Torre was hired in 1996, he was the complete opposite of what Mr. Steinbrenner envisioned in a coach. Nonetheless, Joe Torre insisted on managing his own way. He felt it was beneficial to teach from one's mistake rather than belittle someone who has made an error. In his first year as manager he proved numerous doubters wrong and brought home a Yankees world championship. By going against the set mentality they had wanted in a manager and instead employing his own way, Joe Torre had led the Yankees to a championship; the largest accomplishment of all.
In conclusion, it can be clearly seen that one who challenges those in authority and does things there own way will actually accomplish more. The famous statement, "I got to do it my way or no way at all," was never more correct.
