When I first went to visit VT in the summer of 2009, I was amazed by what I saw and learned. The environment was soothing and beautiful, filled with people who were kind and helpful. The students there made me feel like I was at home, though I was from a different state. Not only does Virginia have a friendly environment, they also had diversity in the students. I saw people from different races and different languages interacting with each other. I personally want to be in a college where there is diversity because I believe that I could learn from different cultures and it would add on to the value of the school. There was also a wide range of major options for me to decide from and since Im undecided, going to Virginia tech will help me widen my boundaries and explore different majors. Not only does this school have wide variety of majors, they also have an amazing student to faculty ratio, 16:1. Having a ratio like this impressed me a lot because it helps the relationship between the student and the professor. Another reason why I hope I could go to Virginia Tech is because of the clubs that are offered. There are so many clubs that one can choose from to improve your extra circular activities and meet new people from. There is a club for almost anything one can think of and because of that I feel like I would achieve more.

I think this is a “Why VT?” essay, so I think talking about the school in the essay is necessary.

really? i don’t know, i haven’t check out VT yet. but my comment is true for most common and popular prompt

“The students there made me feel like I was at home, though I was from a different state.”

The sentence would sound better like:

I hardly felt as though I was from a different state, the students from _ made me feel like I was at home.
