If you’ll be needing any financial aid, then I think you need to avoid most OOS publics since many don’t really help out of state students.

If you need financial aid, since you’re a URM, you should apply to some privates that want to improve their diversity numbers. They are often very generous! :)

But, if money is no problem, then your list seems fine, but we don’t know your scores.

What are your SAT/ACT scores?

Also…try to make sure you end this semester as best as you can! :)

BTW…what is your likely major/career? And what do you want in a school?

Money…kind of…but not really single parent (mom) (dad doesnt help support us…) her income is around $60,000 a year…but i’ll still need help paying it off…

I’m interested in becoming a lawyer possible majors are Political Science or Econ.

I also loove history and might minor in arab/middle eastern studies or anthropology ot african studies depending on what the school offers…

you will not receive full financial aid at howard, so financially it could be out of reach. With your gpa and scores it may be hard to receive merit money.

Link to scholarships art howard. Remember being eligible to receive a scholarship does not translate into actually getting a scholarship.

If your dad can’t be counted on to help with your education costs, then you shouldn’t apply to schools that will require CSS Profile with Non-Custodial Parent income info or schools that will require their own forms that want NCP info. This will exclude some privates that require such info.

You live in Minn, so your best aid will probably come from Minn schools and private schools that want more diversity (but, again, avoid schools that will want your dad’s info).

Don’t bother with OOS public schools like George Mason and such unless you’re certain that they will give OOS students a lot of aid. I don’t think they will.

If you want to be somewhat near Wash DC, you might try applying to some of the Catholic universities. Some are very generous to minority students. Schools like Loyola Maryland, maybe Catholic U of America, ???

Since you want to be an atty, you need to MINIMIZE your undergrad loans because you’ll need to save your borrowing power for law school. :)

You need to try to get your scores up for better choices. The better your scores, the better your aid can be. Also take the ACT, so kids do better on that. :)

most catholic universities and colleges are very tolerant of people of different religions…you’ll fit in probably…you already live as a minority, no?

in terms of admissions, you have a fair chance at st. cloud state and maybe um duluth

in MA, you might wanna look at the massachusetts college of liberal arts…it’s residential and not selective…but it’s moderately pricey OOS (compared to MN in state)
