Please help a student who has been rejected from every college..

^I do have full rides at KSU and Adelphi but I am not interested…

My madness is over, I would be applying to Delhi University…

( Btw nothing in my application was false, the colleges have LORs, bank statements, salary certificates so no way I could forge anything anyway. )

My English is good because I studied in a good English medium private school in New Delhi.

I sincerely feel that my fall has been because of my arrogance, but the harsh rejections have brought me down to earth. ( I do not want to sound arrogant again but my all powerful presidential position in my school and my community turned me into an arrogant fool who thought he could do anything. )

I guess I needed these rejections to show me the reality.

Sorry for bothering everybody here, atleast one college waitlisted me… I received a letter from Bates today.

( Btw my uncle has helped my family a lot, believe me I never had any lack of luxuries eventhough I am from a poor family… But he is not ready to pay my fees, he wants me to come after my graduation. :frowning: )

Waitlisted at Middlebury too… ( and what does full ride mean - full tuition or totally free, because I received full tuition at Adelphi and KSU so see I can’t even afford the living cost sadly. :frowning: )

If you have full rides at KSU and Adelphi, then you were not rejected everywhere. You were rejected to many highly selective schools that your arrogance lead you to believe that you should have gotten into. If you look around CC, you will see many students with just as many leadership positions as you. Personally, I think you should swallow your pride and go to KSU or Adelphi. Finances are obviously an important factor in your college choice, and it seems foolish to turn down a full ride. You can always transfer to a better college or go to a more prestigious grad school after undergrad.

^ My arrogance has led me to make some fatal mistakes, I got into Delhi University’s premier undergrad business school which has an acceptance of 1 in 90.

Sadly I have to try once again… But yes I am no longer so arrogant anymore… The rejections were a rude shock but a reality check.

I am planning to study undergrad in India and grad studies in the US.

I think you owe an apology to all the helpful parents whose time you wasted by lying about your acceptance status. They are real people who made an effort to assist you with what you mischaracterized as a huge problem, when all you really wanted was to have your ego stroked.

I AM REALLY SORRY… I sincerely apologize from the depth of my heart but I really felt very depressed due to the rejections because I was living in a dream world for over a year. :(

If this is true , then you have not been rejected from every college. And to be blunt, saying you, coming from a very impoverished family, are “not interested” in full rides from these schools is indeed arrogant, sorry to say. And as an aside, if monies are so tight, how did you sent a message from an expensive touchscreen samsung cellphone? Something here sounds amiss…

^ it was a gift…

Now going through my past threads I see that I really sounded arrogant. Sorry.

I’ll study in India and try to apply for grad school later.

Thanks everyone.

Don’t you still have to pay for the monthly cellphone service and extra for the dataplan?

No, I use a pre paid plan… So I do not have any balance in my phone. I use it only for internet connection through a wifi connection which costs Rs 700 a month. ( ~ $14 )

Well apparently someone paid for the plan as well as the phone.

My father pays for the Internet connection and he can very well afford it… And my uncle is a millionaire in the US who can afford to gift me the phone too.

And not just a phone, he has gifted me and my sister three laptops, two ipod touchs, two very high end phones and what not… He is generous… But I do not what has happened to him… He is hell bent that I should complete my undergraduate studies from India and come to US for grad studies.

Your father can afford it? Didn’t you say he makes $4,000 a year?? This is just silly.

One can afford $14 a month Internet connection with $334 a month salary.

Seriously? Didn’t you also say your dad could afford 5-10K/yr tuition? If he only makes 4k (and we dont know how big your family is) this is magical thinking.

My family is of 4… I said that we can afford that much through EXTENDED FAMILY CONTRIBUTIONS and student loan ( $8000 is available for low income students from government banks without interest during the study period. )

We have a house which we can mortgage.

Have you asked our parents if they are willing to mortgage their house to send you to college? And are you sure your extended family would contribute to your education? These are never guarantees. Please, take the full ride or complete your undergrad in India as you planned. Good day to you.

Is it April first in India yet? This feels like an April fools joke, but I could be mistaken.

My father’s factory was shut down during the recession so the job he holds now doesn’t pay well, he is doing this job only for 2 years.

Our house’s worth is $100000…

So my father can get me a loan of $40000 for 4 years…

We are not dirt poor… We are just having a bad time…

They are ready to mortgage the house… But I am not ready to take such a risk so I will study in India.

I will try again for grad school. :)
