Hi guys I have been dreaming of going to Penn for quite a while now, the average applicants are I must say very intimidating. You guys are so wonderfull though, your stats are incredible. I am very worired about my chances. To start off, i was born in a smal town in Brazil and moved up here to the americas when I was 4, i curently live in the Poconos in PA, my parents work very hard to help me and my brother get the best we can out of life. I would like to go to medical school after the undergraduate years and I wish to become a pediatrician. i love to run and am on both the track and field and cross country teams, I am engaged in various other little clubs ( SGA, Anime club, ski and snowboard,)… etc, I am also in National Honor society and am involved in it rigoursly, so i am probably going to be in the executive board next year. I have clinical expierience at the hospital, and I am in ivolved in VARIOUS forms of community service , in fact i am chairperson of community service for my class. I am in the relay for life, have worked with adopt a family, make a wish, children and youth, the march of dimes, and i am currently knitting over 100 hats for newborn babies at my local hospital) as for volunterr work I plan to volenteer at a childrens day camp or something at the hospital. I plan to take 4 or 5 ap classes senior year and the rest will be honors. i am also going to attend the National Youth leadership Forum on Medicine in philadelphia summer 2007, as for gpa I have a 97 average.and as far as sat’s i havent taken them yet but I have been studying and i assume that I wiil recieve at least a 2000 the first time. i know my stats arent incredible , but if you guys could give me some feedback it would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you at least have a chance! Your community service is impressive and your stats sound competitive.

Also, if your dream is of being a pediatrician, I think you would do well to remember that you don't HAVE to go to an Ivy to become a doctor. For all the hype, I think all that's really needed to become a doctor is a bit of smarts and A LOT of hard work. You sound intelligent and seem to have a great work ethic, so just keep pursuing your dream!

yeah, i applied from a rural area too. things look good for you
