I recieved the scores for my first SAT reasoning test and I got a 1570. I know it's only slightly above average. I haven't had test prep but I've studied. I haven't done any sports because I've been working since freshman year. I'm an incoming senior. I really wanted to get into NYU. I know ivy league is impossible for me. I tried volunteer work but my town is small and its always already full. Im hispanc and a first generation student. I've been on honor roll since 6th grade. I've taken engineering classes and AP courses but had really bad scores on the APs so i dont plan on submitting those. Do you think I have a reasonable chance of getting into NYU or the cornell "sister" schools. I don't want a nystate school only schools in the nyc so my choices arent so wide but i do plan on going to college with some sort of scholarship. Please please give me advice or your ideas of my chances of getting into NYU. if it helps I want to major in business, international relations, social sciences, or computer engineering.

Yes, 1570 is above average. But not for a school like NYU. Since you don’t seem to have any ECs either you probably don’t have any chance at all.

Oh wait, I didn’t read the work part. Is there any specific reason why you have to work? It’d probably be pretty significant.

I guess that since you kind of have your major decided, you can find a way to pursue your passions. Which is easier said than done, unfortunately. Have you looked up internships/summer opportunities/etc?

I hope that you’re not only aiming for NYU-caliber schools, by the way. Everyone needs safeties.
