Please help... Cal Chances

Im dying to go to Cal. I know its a reach but I just need to know how realistic my chances are.

Major: Civil Engineering
GPA: 3.5
Pre Reqs: Completed
ECs: Engineering internship
Essay: Good
No TAP

Any thoughts????

we’re only 2 days away man, u’ll find out soon enough, just gotta hold on tight! good luck!

Ha, i know, i know… I just haven’t seen much regarding Engineering transfers and what I have seen are basically 4.0s so it’s making me really nervous. Does someone with a GPA like mine ever get in for Engineering???

maybe you can find info here?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/903524-how-many-people-applied-eecs-berkeley.html

yeah, I’m not trying to get into cal but CCers (for the most part) all seem to have REALLY high GPAs and that makes me nervous too, but I’m sure that not everyone that gets in has a 4.0. I don’t know much about the engineering program at UCB but quite a few people were recently accepted to UCLA with gpas around or below yours. Good luck! The wait is ALMOST over

it’s cal no one is a lock even at 4.0 so just hope for the best

according to the chart on statfinder, engineering admits had an avg 3.77 gpa.

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/drawtable.aspx?track=1)

just remember that C.C poster are often the top of their class in C.C and are no way indicative of the general community college population or even the applying class

Also, remember that most engineers are probably either sitting at the very front of their E&M classes or holed up in their rooms reviewing for mindfck.

LOL jk (but not really). Most engineers I know don’t even know about CC.

Touche sunnyseas. I’ll just be keeping my fingers crossed until Friday…

Good luck! Log off CC and get some fresh air! Hahahah. Wish I could but I’m stuck in mod physics right now ughh.

Yeah, the average GPA for CCers is definitely higher than the mean so don’t be scared off by them.

With that being said, decisions are two days away. UC Berkeley’s engineering program is incredibly competitive. And thus, unfortunately, even with a 4.0 chances are iffy.

considering berkeley is #1 in the U.S. for civil engineering, i’d say around a 30% chance of admission, and that’s probably being generous
