This is going to sound weird-- but there is a deadline for housing at my dream school and I am 99.9999% I want to enroll there, BUT I’m still waiting on 2 other schools. (I probably won’t get into the 2 schools I’m still waiting for.) If I enroll at my dream school and sign up for housing and all that and I GET INTO my other 2, can I unenroll at my dream school and go to one of those instead??
I’m okay with losing my deposit, but I was wondering if that was not okay to do.
The rule is against accepting 2 offers of admission and then deciding later which one to take. Since you only have 1 offer, go ahead. Just be sure to get back to them and say you’ve changed your mind about enrolling if you get into one of the other schools. This is similar to the situation where people are on waitlists. They accept an offer so they know they will go to college, then if they get off a waitlist they contact their 1st school and say they won’t be coming after all.
Schools expect a summer drop of around 5-10%. That means that around 94% of students who say they’re going to enroll actually do so. This is perfectly fine, so long as you notify the first school you have decided that you will not be there come August.
I am really confused. Why would you accept an offer from your “dream school”, then turn around and enroll in another school that is not your “dream” school?
I know it sounds silly but my other two are WAAAAAYYYYYY cheaper so if I get into the other two it may be easier on my wallet to go there! Thank you all!
