I am planning to go to BU for this fall. I can’t remember i was accepted into the college of general studies or not but i really do not want to be in it. it is possibly (and easy) to transfer out to either CAS or management asap, before septemeber comes? at the open house or through phone?

also BU gave me $7000 in financial aid. does being in CGS have anything to do with it? i dont know…but i read somehwere on this forum that they don’t offer scholarships to students in CGS. my EFC is 0 and my grade/SAT/ACT is pretty high. is there any effective way to appeal this?

You cannot transfer into CAS (or any other school at BU) if you are in CGS. You must complete two years at CGS. Do NOT call to ask them about transferring into CAS, unless you have a significant change in your GPA or SAT scores.

Students in CGS are eligible for aid. http://web.bu.edu/cgs/about/FAQ/index.html#financial (I do find it extremely strange that your EFC is 0.) Did you originally apply to CAS? The school you apply to is important because your stats need to match/or preferably exceed the standard. (They choose the best of their applicants to make a class of around 4,100.) The rigor of your high school career and your GPA/class rank are also an important factor into your desired BU school.

i can’t transfer even though fall 09 (when i start college) isn’t here yet? i read somewhere on this forum that i can transfer at the orientation if there are spots and if my grades qualify.

my stats are definitely above the CGS.
SAT 2030 opposed to 1710 - 1860 at CGS
ACT 33 opposed to 24-27
GPA 3.6 opposed to 3.3

Woah, that’s crazy! My EFC was 8,000 and my parents would be paying 3k if I went to BU :), I think u should appeal! B/c my SAT score was 1650, gpa 3.7, but I’m a URM…idk if that helped me. I don’t think iit did,.
