Thanks in advance.

Very poor (high 2s) GPA at an elite NE prep school. Did not work hard save for subjects that interested me...and poor work ethic showed.

1400/2100 SATs, subject tests in mid-700s range

3.06 GPA in first year ('07-'08) at U. of Wisconsin. Improved effort from high school, but still subpar. A handful of ECs...leadership position in fraternity, Students for Barack Obama, etc.

That winter, I became heavily involved in the Obama campaign and applied for an Obama Organizing Fellowship for the summer. I was accepted and eventually secured a staff job with the campaign for the general election...in the course of that job, I ran a field office in a major battleground state and was responsible for our efforts in a handful of counties. This was a formative experience in my life...living by myself in a very rural area, taking on a host of responsibilities, stretching my comfort zone (all addressed in admissions essay.)

I'm applying to Georgetown (the dream school, obviously) and GW. I have a much-improved GPA this term - 3.8 or thereabouts - but it doesn't appear that it will be taken into account. My essays will be very strong, but my professor rec - given the size of the school and the time I have been away - will not reflect great understanding of me as a student. I will also be sending a job-related recommendation and my resume.

Do I have a shot at either?
