*Please help!* CHC and the meaning of "academic classes"?

Hi! This is a bit complicated, but I'm attending a so-so university (my individual college has low academic standards but an amazing acting program- the reason i'm there) but now I want other majors and I'm interested in coming out to UMass for their theatre program+whatever other studies i pursue.

On CHC's site they say they will accept credit for what the school considers "academic courses". Does this mean none of my arts-related credits will transfer? even if I'm going for a BA in theatre? I have 33 (i think) credits from my school, but at least half are theatre and dance credits. I have decent stats though, I think I could get in otherwise

3.68 UW
ACT 30
SAT 1810 (eh)
highschool gpa was bad but I've very obviously improved

I may or may not be attending my state flagship for fall semester, which is highly regarded as a rigorous university, in order to save money (or else staying at my old school). If I do get into the flagship and keep my grades up, I feel like it will show them that I can actually handle a more rigorous academic uni and still get good grades.

Any help?

If UMass has an equivalent course, you will receive credit. For example, if you took “Ancient Greek Performance” or whatever (I’m making that one up), UMass might not have a course called that exactly, but it would have an equivalent course, “Performing Mythologies in a Contemporary World” (a real UMass class), so you’d get credit for that (so long as you got a “C” or above). However, if UMass doesn’t have a class similar to the one you took, you won’t receive credit, though if you think you should have, you can always haggle with credit evaluators. The same goes for all the classes you’ve taken, art-related and beyond.

Your stats sound good for transferring.
