I am a business man at heart. I have always wanted to work for a fortune 500 business, technology/ computer company on a corporate level and I need some helping choosing the best path to get me there.

Which would you recommend:

-Bachelor of Science Marketing with (2) minors in: Business Administration & Computer Science.

-Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with (2) minors in: Marketing & Computer Science.

Marketing, Business Admin are useless majors in the undergraduate level and if you don’t go to a top school. Major in accounting or finance to actually get jobs. Or just stick with CS and minor in marketing/admin

I am using the general “BS in Business Admin or BS in Marketing” with 2 minors as a foundation to prepare me for my master’s degree than the PHD program.

A business admin is not useless if he has a concentration in a field such as accounting, finance or MIS. Your second option would be the most useful, but just make sure to have a concentration as I mentioned.

Newmusic you need at least 2 years of legitimate work experience to get into a masters program. Do not major in marketing and do not major in business administration without a concentration in finance/accounting. End of story

I reallllyyyyy have no interest in accounting. I do not want to even think about becoming a CPA. I do not mind Finance. But if I get a minor in Finance or Accounting with a Business Admin. degree what would that open me up to in the career world?

everyone is always so absolute on this thread. Geez.
marketing and business admin degrees still offer some opportunities. A business major with a minor in Computer science, which is what newmusic is contemplating, offers even more.

and you do NOT need 2 yrs work experience for all Masters programs.

newmusic: is your goal to become a phd, or work at a fortune 500 company? Because you dont need a phd to work at a fortune 500 company.

as for your major/minor combos theyre both pretty similar. If you’d really like to get into marketing then do that one. If youd like to take a wider range of classes do the business admin one. Personally, i hate marketing.

Yes, I wanted to obtain my bachelors & masters than work for a fortune 500 company on corporate level.

I thought studying a phd and obtaining one in the long run, would further my chances of increasing rank.

I love marketing since it’s familiar to me. I would also like to try a variety of new business classes to get the best of all worlds… which may be the BSBA degree, correct? With a minor in computer science and marketing.

You increase rank by showing prowess at your current level on the corporate latter, not by being an expert academic in a particular business field.
