Does anyone have any recent experience in the past couple of years with rescind or warning letters from CMU?
I got accepted ED to the College of Engineering with mostly As and a couple Bs.
However, my senior year first semester grades aren’t looking great. I might be getting a B in AP Physics and a C in a college level class (multi-variable calculus). Nothing drastic was happening during my life so I have no explanation of my fall in grades except for the fact that these are harder classes. How badly would this affect me?
First – Enjoy your Senior Year. You will never have another Senior Year in High School.
Second – Seek out great study habits. It takes discipline to get up at 5:00 AM to meet with a teacher to go over something you don’t understand, but the discipline learned now will pay dividends throughout college. Take the time to teach yourself these subjects. It will help you at CMU.
Third – Study to understand the subject. It will get you further than studying for a grade, and it will push you through the hard times.
Solid H.S. grades in and understanding of multi-variables and physics are the norm for CMU. You will be taking multi-variables again, so it is better to gain knowledge than grades.
CMU will push you to your limits. Therefore, prepare now and push yourself to understand these subjects. The kids at CMU come well prepared.
These are things I’ve learned from watching my son, who is a freshman at CMU. He self-taught himself multi-variable and Physics B/C during his senior year, working with his teacher and a professor at Penn State. One thing he said was everything he learned during his senior year he learned in the 1st month at CMU. He met with a teacher before school everyday for the 1st quarter of his senior year, and this helped him get 5’s on the A/P on subjects which he self-taught. BTW, he decided on Deitrich, so he never submitted the Physics 5’s because during his senior year he realized physics was not something he wanted to pursue.
