I want to start a DECA chapter, but I'm not sure about many things.

First, where are the competitive events located? The information on the website is very vague.
Second, during the competitive events, can one person only choose one of those?
Finally, when do these competitive events happen?

Talk to your marketing teacher if you have one. I believe DECA is kind of strict as to who can be an advisor. I believe they have to be a certified marketing teacher, which is a big reason why small schools have FBLA chapters but not DECA. One thing they do in my state is if your prospective advisor contacts the state DECA administration they will set up new chapters with a running chapter as a “sister chapter” This helps new chapters with guidance to get started. Now to get to your questions.

The location of the competition depends on the district that your school is in. For example my school hosts the district competition but school from up to about an hour away come to compete.

You are only allowed to do one of the “series” events but then you can also do a project in addition to that.

All I know is my personal experience which was Districts in January, State in March and ICDC in early May which is during AP testing :(
