Please help! Effect on admissions

Hey all,

I need some help. Is it true that a single incident of cheating can mean an automatic rejection at many schools such as GT,UGA, Emory? I have great stats otherwise 4.0, 2200,good ECs. This is the only disciplinary action I received. I didn't get suspended or anything. PLEASE HELP ME OUT. IM FREAKING OUT.

It is possible. You need to contact the schools to which you applied.

I’m actually a junior so I’ll be applying next year.

Ask you guidance counselor if it will be in your file. Most schools don’t want to derail you for on incident if you have been good, or at least not caught again.

If they don’t report it, then you are fine. If they do, it depends on what it was. Most often you have already been punished failing grade whatever

Agree that you need to talk to your HS GC to see how your school deals with this type of situation. The GC will have to answer the same disciplinary question on the SSR that you have on your application, both of you need to answer the same way.

Thanks very much guys. That’s what I was unsure about. My school has no set policy when it comes to reporting so I will meet with my counselor. In the worst case, if it is reported, any idea on impact?

It will likely depend on the severity of the infraction and the response that you write to this:
