I am an international student and I am not very clear which school I should choose. As a reseult, I want to hear from some American guys' opinion about my choice of schools.
1.UIUC, major: DGS
2.Purdue University, major: mechanical engineering
3. University of Minnesota, major: mechanical engineering
4. Drexel University major: mechanical engineering, with 5 year $18000 per year and honor program

I have heard from many advice from my classmates of my mainland, they most choose uiuc for its reputation. But what I most care about is whether it worth of 45k per year after I transfer into the engineering college? I really want some advice from the Americans. It is said the co-op program at Drexel is renowned and help a lot in the future, but its rank is the lowest one. If I choose it seems unreasonalbe?
It is said that Americans think that private schools are leading a lot in the aspects of the undergraduate education compared to the public school at the same level, and most of them will choose a private school when it is possible, right?
My intend major is some kind of engineering.
Appreciate your time and attention for reading and advice.

All of these places have excellent engineering programs. You can safely choose the one that is the least expensive for you. It looks like Drexel is the best price right now.

You need to contact Drexel to find out how the co-op program works for international students. Can you participate? Will the time in co-op use up some of your Optional Professional Training time that you are eligible for with an F-1 visa?

You also need to consider whether any of these universities has a better reputation in your home country. You cannot count on finding a permanent job in the US. If you do end up having to look for a job at home, you will want a degree (and work experience) that employers in that country will recognize.

And NO. UIUC is not worth 45k more each year for three or four years. Just exactly where are you going to get that extra 135k or more from?

Engineering less differentiated from one school to another than some other majors… it is quite programmed and similar in curriculum from one university to another due to Standards boards.

Outside of google, ebay, etc., engineering jobs don’t pay much differently based on the prestige of your undergraduate school.
