Please help..GPA dilemma

ok...soph. year, I had almost all B+s at the end of 1st semester, but all A's at the end of the year

Plus, my school only takes end-of-yr averages into account for GPA

However, I have heard colleges recalculate GPA..but do they really take semester averages, not final end-of-year ones?

It partly depends on what your high school sends to the colleges. My d's school sends only final grades; the colleges never see the semester grades, so obviously can't use them to recalculate the GPA.

They recalculate GPA to be able to compare high schools more easily. So logically if they can only use final grades for some schools, they should use final grades for all schools.

Most colleges only see the final grades of the year (not the last marking period grades -- the average for the entire year). The one exception is senior year. ED schools get to see first marking period grades. All see midyear/first semester grades.

thank you! that makes more sense
