Please Help! Horrible GPA/ACT

Hello! I am a junior from Minnesota hoping to get into the following colleges:

  1. University of Minnesota Twin Cities
  2. University of Minnesota Duluth
  3. University of Wisconsin Eau-Claire
  4. North Dakota State University

Stats:

3.19 Weighted GPA
3.02 Unweighted GPA

26 ACT

Unfortunately, my freshman and sophomore grades were absolutely terrible, causing me to have an incredibly low GPA. However, I got a 5 on my APUSH test, a 4 on my AP European History test, and a 4 on my AP Language and Composition test. Along with this, I’ve won several awards in my orchestra, volunteered at my local community center, become part of a mentoring committee at my high school, and participated in several clubs.

Is there a possibility that I can make it into at least one of these colleges? THANKS!

(PS: I am planning on majoring in secondary education.)

Depending on what clubs you’ve participated in and assuming you nail your essay I’d say Minnesota Twin Cities is a reach or low reach at best. The other Minnesota branches shouldn’t be a problem for you and North Dakota State looks like a low reach at the most. I’d say you’re still a junior so there’s time, make sure you have a very rigorous senior schedule and try and take up some leadership positions in a club or organization. Hope this helped!
