my parents didnt go to college here so i really dont know how this whole process works,

I applied for financial aid but as fas as scholarships from Umichigan itself, it seems they are all merit based and you are automatically considered, so you dont actually apply? is that correct?

I was going to spend the next month finding scholarships online but they all seem to be one in a million shots and for minimal money so i was wondering if this is what everyone else is doing? are they worth it?

I was accepted out of state and there is no way i can afford michigan unless i find other sources of money :( thanks and sorry for the seemingly basic questions! im freaking out so i really appreciate your time and response!

I agree that it does not sound like an OOS school is affordable.
To what other schools have you applied?

Michigan is a great school, but it does not guarantee to meet full need for out of state students.

I hope you have some other colleges on your application list that are more affordable.

ETA…it looks like you were accepted to UT Austin…as a Plan II honors student. This is a terrific choice and perhaps will be more affordable for you (instate for TX, right?).

There are both need based and merit based aids at UMich. For need based FA, you need to submit CSS profile and FAFSA. You should try the cost calculator. For oos students, it is not likely to meet the need 100%. Besides the automatic ones, there are some merit based scholarships that you are required to apply and the deadline is coming up soon. You should look up their FA website carefully.
UMich is one of the most expensive public universities for oos students that it is not affordable to many students.
