Please Help! I need realistic match schools.

This is my first post, published because i'm in desperate need of some good advice. i'm a senior in HS (i actually graduated last year but at my school you can opt to stay an extra year to complete your IB diploma) i'm an international student, my SAT scores are currently a little lack luster (1930-700 CR 570 Math 660 Writing) but im awaiting my October Score report hopefully i've improved. I have a 3.7 cumulative GPA.

Courses I currently take:
IB English A Higher Level (HL)
IB Chemistry HL
IB Visual Arts HL
IB Math Studies Standard Level (SL)
IB Spanish B SL
IB Geography SL

Before starting the IB, we do national exams similar to England's GCSE's. in these i received 6 A's and 2 B's. I won the award for the Highest Grade Acheived in the national exams for Fine Arts. Which I hope will help me in my admissions to the school's I have choosen as i hope to major in Visual Arts.

My extracurriculars:

13 years of after school ballet lessons (I now rank as a soloist)
Won the regional Model United Nations debate (2008)
2008 alumni of the Global Young Leaders Conference
Achieved the Governor General Youth Awards at the Bronze Level
Secretary of my school's Historical Society for the last 4 years
Senior Prefect
Senior House Captain
Volunteered at the local baseball league working at the Concession Stand every Saturday (20 week season) for 4 years
Scorekeeper for my school's Senior Girl’s softball team for 3 seasons
Rode in the Ride for Hope (100 mile bike race raising money for cancer research) for the last 3 years
High School Choir (Freshmen&Sophmore Year)
Played ‘Miss Hannigan’ in the school’s musical production Annie (2006)
Played ‘Alice’ in the school’s musical production of Alice in Wonderland (2008)

I realise I haven't done and enormous amount of community service, but ballet and theatre practice alongside a full IB course take up all of my time.

Anyway these are the school's I am considering:

Duke ED
UNC Chapel Hill
University of Virginia
Boston University
Goerge Mason University

I understand that all of these other than George Mason, my safety and BU, my match?, are reaches so i REALLY need help to find school's that are good matches for me but are still considered good universities. I also do not want a rural or small campus.

O also i want to go to a university with an art program not an art school.

Thanks soo much for reading this, i know its long-winded, hopefully someone can help.

University of Richmond
[University of Richmond: Home](http://www.richmond.edu/)

i’ve considered richmond but tons of people from my HS go there and i wanted to go someplace different. thankyou though. :]

You may want to look at Elon. Unless 5000 undergrads is too small. Also has Great Dance program if your interested in continuing.

Oberlin???

Maybe Carnegie Mellon, as well?

yea i think elon and oberlin might be too small for me, i really want a school with a big sports team. i know thats a little weird for an art major :stuck_out_tongue: and i don’t think carnegie mellon offers the major i want.

Do you need financial aid? What is your approximate class rank?

I’m not sure how your stats would stack up–that 570 in Math is a killer–but you might look into the University of Miami and Indiana University.

financial aid isn’t really an issue. im in the top ten percent, despite my GPA (its a little messed up because of the 1-7 IB grading scale) University of Miami is way too close to home, but thanks for suggesting Indiana their art program looks interesting.

American University in DC has a brand new arts building and should be a match for you. It has a very csomopolitan, international student body.

alright thankyou :]

Look at University of Maryland, College Park. It only a short subway trip to downtown Washington, DC.
