I am currently a sophmore status student attending CC after leaving UCSD after 2 years due to unfortunate circumstances. I now want to go to CSUF or CSULB because I moved up to Orange County to work and save up money to go back to school.

My current problem is that I need an IGETC 1B course and I have taken three courses at UCSD that I think would satisfy the requirements. The courses were 6 quarter units each and were heavy in college level writing, analysis of world religions and cultures, and critical thinking. Two of the three classes involved writing a 12 page research paper. A counselor at CSUF advised me that they would not be able to evaluate the courses that I took at UCSD unless I was already admitted. Only then can they look at my non-cc transcript and let me know what will transfer and what it will count as.

At this point I think my two options are either 1) take College Level Writing 2 at a cc and then apply for CSUF/CSULB for spring 2012 (instead of fall 2012 like I was hoping for) or 2) submit my application now and put my classes from UCSD in for my 1B requirement and hope the college will recognize these courses as satisfactory for fulfilling the IGETC.

Has anyone had a similar experience? I would appreciate any advice you have on this subject and thanks for reading...sorry it was so long winded >.<
