Please help! Important Common App supplement question!

Does the additional essay HAVE to be from one of the possible topics that Harvard suggests? Or can you write about anything?

Thanks for your help! ;-D

Unless they have a topic that reads "a topic of your own choice" I would most definitely answer their topics only.

You can write about anything....

Just look at the wording of the question, with its reference to "possible topics". This certainly implies there could be other topics.

Occasionally, students feel that college application forms do not provide sufficient opportunity to convey important information about themselves or their accomplishments. If there is something you would like us to know, please inform us in the additional information section. If you wish to include an additional essay, you may do so in the space below.
Possible Topics:

Unusual circumstances in your life
Travel or living experiences or other countries
Books that have affected you the most
An academic experience (course, project, paper, or research topic) that has meant the most to you
A list of the books you have read during the past twelve months

That's what I thought too, but I'm not sure. I have also seen lots of people on here addressing only the topics that Harvard suggested. Should I e-mail the office of admissions? I'm afraid they'll disqualify me...lol.

My supplement topic was nowhere near the topics suggested.

The word possible means that those topics are, you know, possible ones to write on.

MusikAznGirl, what was ur essay on?

I did an essay of my getting kicked out of my house and a list of my favorites.

Runningcircles, you got kicked out of your house? Anyways, mine was on independence and ice cream. jk about the last one, the supplement essay was about a small small small small town that I live in.

Ja. It was a good learning experience.

Did you move back in?

Yeah.ten
