For the UC’s, you need a minimum UC Capped weighted GPA of 3.0 to apply but you would probably need closer to a 3.4+ or higher for a chance at UC Merced. UC’s are very GPA focused and 6 out of 9 UC campuses have a average UC Capped weighted GPA of 4.0+.
UC’s use 10-11th grades for the a-g courses only and you get extra honors points for AP/IB or DE courses and UC approved Honors classes taken 10-11th grades.
Here is the UC GPA calculator to see if you even qualify: https://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
You have a lot more options with the Cal State system which only uses UC/CSU capped weighted GPA and test scores for admission purposes.
You need to calculate your eligibility index (CSU/UC Capped weighted GPA x800) + (SAT Math + EBRW), so a high SAT can offset a lower GPA. CSU’s do give priority to local residents within their local service area so you can see which CSU is local for you here:
https://www2.calstate.edu/apply/freshman/documents/csulocaladmission-serviceareas.pdf
You are ranked on your EI and major by the CSU campuses.
For CSU Fullerton, depending upon major you would need around and EI of 3800+ and if you non-local then a higher EI would be needed.
For CSULB, an EI of 3900+ minimum if not local to a good chance.
Both are impacted campuses, so the competition is tough.
You can look up which campuses and majors are impacted at the CSU’s here: https://www.calstate.edu/sas/documents/impactedprogramsmatrix.pdf
There is always another option that is to attend a community college for 2 years where you start over with your GPA and then transfer via TAG for the UC’s or AS-T or AT-T for the CSU’s.

Not to bombard you with more information but this link shows minimum EI’s for local vs. non-local applicants, # of applicants vs admitted students, average CSU GPA and tests scores for all the Cal states.
what is EI? so basically there’s no chance of me getting into a CSU ?
What is your UC GPA?
You have a good chance of getting into many of the Cal states, the UC’s will be an issue if your UC capped weighted GPA is not above a 3.0.
An EI is the eligibility index (EI) and I posted the calculation. The Cal States will calculate your EI and rank you based on your EI and major and then accept students from the top down.
If your CSU Capped Weighted GPA is 2.8 and SAT score is 1350, then your EI is 3590. Most of the CSU’s are an option except for Cal Poly SLO, San Diego State, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, Cal Poly Pomona, Chico State, some majors at San Jose State.
Check the link for the Cal States in post #2
Edited: These campuses are not impacted for Kinesiology: Bakersfield, Chico (may still be a tough admit), Dominguez Hills, Humboldt, Sacramento and Stanislaus so these will be an slightly easier admit.
okay thank you will colleges give me mercy that I come from one of the best high schools in california and go to a really competitive school or no?
Going to a competitive HS will be considered but you still need to have the grades comparable to your fellow HS students since you are competing against these same students for the spots available at these schools. Definitely apply to 1-2 of the non-impacted CSU’s as a safety.
Just remember there is more than one way to get to your goal so a CC to CSU/UC transfer is a good option if you are not happy with any school choices with your current stats.
Other options would to look out of state and into the WUE schools. Here is a list and information regarding these schools.
Sac, SF and Sonoma are both worth a look.
