PLEASE HELP! Looking for RN programs in CA?

Does anyone know of any accredited 4-year RN nursing programs in California that would allow a current college student to apply as a first-time freshman?

I have never heard of a college accepting a current college student as a first time freshman for any major as far I know you are required to report all academic work on your application. Is there a reason you not want to apply as a transfer?

Yes. Unfortunately, due to family deaths and emergencies, my grades for the past year of my school life were pretty bad. I never received a grade lower than a C, but it’s definitely not up to par in comparison to other prospective nursing students. I really do not wish for my future to be marred due to the first year of my college life, and my family and I would very much like an opportunity for me to get a “fresh start”.

A fresh start would be nice but unfortunately it is not going to happen and you will still have to live with your school record. Does your current school offer nursing or is this a new goal? Maybe you should just tough it out or consider a CC then transfer as a junior. I will try and do some research for you, my niece is a nursing student and I can also get some information from her. There are many Cal states that have nursing programs so options are not limited, Bakersfield, Channel Islands, Chico, (Where my niece is), Dominguez Hill, East Bay, Fresno, Fullerton, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Monterey Bay, Northridge, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose,
San Marcos, Sonoma, and Stanislaus, UCI also has nursing. Try not to stress to much you still have time to pull this off.

Thank you so much for offering to help me out with this issue!!!
I really would like to go to a CC and transfer, or get my LVN and to a LVN to RN bridge program. Unfortunately, my parents seem to think that I can get a fresh start anywhere, and I keep telling them that that is not the case, but they won’t believe me.
Also, if I try to suggest transferring they get a bit mad and demand that I find a school that will let me apply as a freshman.
Unfortunately, I can’t exactly go my own way with my education because they’re paying for all college expenses. I really don’t know what to do.

I’d like to also ask how anyone thinks that I should try to convince my parents to let me either transfer, go to a CC, or get an LVN and go to a bridge program.

I haven’t heard back from my niece yet but I would like to tell you she did the LVN to RN program and transferred to Chico from a CC. Saddleback college, a CC in Mission Viejo, has an RN program as do others. I do not know what part of the state you are in or what your local CC is but it seems to me you are well aware of your options. I might go and see your current adviser and maybe get something in writing about the inability to get a fresh start and how it is unethical. If your mother knew that it was the same as cheating she might take a different stance. Maybe you can have your mom go with you to an adviser at your local CC or your current college. I am still curious if your current college offers nursing, or if you just want out of it?
