Schools
Match me! I have almost no idea at this moment.

Hi, is your high school located in Canada? Do you live there or in China?
Can you clarify?

Tagging @MYOS1634 who may be able to opine on your academic credentials.

That is a very bad idea. It’s pointless to apply to schools you’ll not be able to afford. You should discuss a budget up front with your parents, and let us know what your family can comfortably afford. Then we can suggest appropriate schools for you.

That’s fine…except what happens if all of your acceptances are not affordable for your family?

If you are looking for college suggestions for international students, it would help to have a little more information about what you are looking for…and your price point. There are many many colleges in this country that do not provide any financial aid at all to international students.

My family and I will discuss about it after I receive offers.

Offers of acceptance or offers of aid or both?

Thanks for replying. My school is a Canadian school located in China. And as for now, considering the tuition fee of my major is relatively cheap (then including the life cost), my family is able to afford most of the colleges. That’s why I said cost is not the main consideration right now. Just try to figure out where should I apply.

So your family could afford $50,000 to over $80,000 a year for you to attend college here…because those are the costs.

Thanks for replying! Offers of acceptance. My family would be able to afford most of the schools, and they’ve told me not to worried about the cost now. It’ll be nice if i could receive financial aid but if not it’s not going to change much. Therefore, I’m only trying to find out with my academics and awards, where can i apply to for now.

Need more info…

Urban/suburban/rural
College size
Ease of transport from where your family is
Religious/secular
Cost point or at least a range…or if you will require need based aid.
SAT or ACT score as some schools do require this.

I’m fine with those 3 kinds of location. I hope the size is big and not very religious. The range you mention is fine, and I haven’t taken SAT/ACT yet…

@merc81 can you link a list of sports management colleges for this poster to look at?

If they cannot comfortably afford $90k per year, better to have the talk before you apply, so that you won’t end up with wasted applications / admissions that you could have avoided having to do if you knew beforehand that they were too expensive.

Have you considered universities in Canada as well? They are likely to be familiar with OSSD courses and grades at least.

If you are Canadian, they are likely to be relatively inexpensive. Even if you are international for Canada universities, they are still likely to be less expensive than many of the more desired US universities.

This is not realistic.
What you have to understand is that the US colleges and universities are all very different. Vastly different in location, size, personality, religious requirements, weather, access from airports, Greek Life, availability of majors, etc.

You can’t just assume that you will be happy anywhere, as long as it is a US school.

There are schools in the middle of farmland and which may take hours to get to an airport in snowy weather.
There are schools in dry, desert communities that need air conditioning and schools where the humidity affects allergies.
There are large schools with Greek life.
There are “Party schools” with reputations which tend to involve some drinking, which some kids do not like.
There are schools with limited international students and these students may feel somewhat isolated.
What suits one student, may not suit another student.

What do you want in a school? Your majors are all over the place. What do you hope to do with these majors? You will be paying a LOT of money for a US education that may not offer what you want to have in a future career in your country.

@Phoe0717, as an international student, you’re likely not aware what “Greek life” means. Here’s a guide:

I will apply to some Universities in Canada although I’m not Canadian. My nationality is China, which means in major Canadian colleges like UBC or Univerity of Toronto/McGill, the costs would be close with some US colleges.
