Please help me choose a set of reach schools which I may stand a chance there

The set of Universities I’m choosing my reach are:

  1. University of Delaware
  2. Ohio State University
  3. Boston University
  4. University of Wisconsin-Madison
  5. University of Connecticut
  6. University of Michigan
  7. University of Southern California
  8. Northwestern University
  9. Stanford University
  10. Brown University
  11. Princeton University
  12. Harvard University
  13. Columbia University

My Data:

GPA: Senior 3.97 , Junior 3.91 (OUT OF 4.0)

ECs: Student Union Founder (Class Chairman and Best Council team award) , Biology and Physics clubs founder

1760 ( That’s the horrible part of my application…)

Recommendations: I’m pretty confident of my Biology and HS Counselor recommendations. They consider me as one of the best students they met in their career! =)

Personal essay: Will post it later for your rating!

*International from Egypt: White Caucasian. (That’s another bomb, aside from my SAT scores).

What is your financial situation? What is your SAT breakdown?

I’ll depend on external scholarships from my country, 30K is my maximum. My SAT breakdown is 620 Math, 540 Cr, and 600 Writing.

I know it would be shameless to request financial aid from these schools with that bad score…

But for safety and match schools I’ll apply for finaid as I meet their requirements

Your admissions chances would be reasonable at Delaware and Connecticut. The remainder of your list ranges from reach to unrealistic.

Your financial aid prospects will be determined more by the policies of the schools you apply to than by your SAT score itself.

I am sorry but i dont acceptance for you at the IVY Leagues, Stanford,Northwestern,BU and USC
UW Madison- High match/Reach

Sorry but you really need to choose a different range of schools that is more realistic.
There are a few universities that offer aid to int students. Check those

What about Ohio State and UMichigan ? Would they be reasonable reach schools??

BTW I’ve already chosen match and safety schools (would post them later to see your opinions)

Michigan is out of reach for sure.

And Ohio?

Google the Common Data Set to see where your scores stand.

Sharply in the 25th percentile.

I also checked prepscholar and I found the 25th percentile as 1700… but heck why is their chance calculator giving me a 96.38 chance of admission ?! :expressionless:

Your GPA, if it is solid in full context, may make OSU a reasonable reach. Many schools will consider your ability to pay when they make their admissions decision, so this could be a factor for you.

OSU is definitely worth giving a shot for you.
Please list your match and safeties

I would make the final list in a new thread … but as for the safety and match schools (currently) they are:

Safeties: University of New Hampshire, Oregon State University, University of Maine, Washington State University

Matches: Temple University, Penn State University, and Michigan State University

I may change the list as I’m reconsidering to look for universities in Maryland and other mid-atlantic states (I overlooked this part and had focused on New England region)

@pallavijaniani

University of Delaware, U Conn, UW, & OSU seem to be the most realistic choices. I’m not sure if you’re low income, but I noticed you have a $30,000 budget. I’m not sure if these schools would be affordable.

Boston University would be a reach.
