Hello, I am Junior in high school and have been doing light research on college in general, but am now ready to look into specific schools. The problem is, there are so many that I don't know where to begin! I currently live in California, but am not happy with the constant heat and would love to go to school on the East Coast to get a change of pace and experience four distinct seasons.Columbia is my dream school, but I need some help finding more reach, match, and safeties.

I've taken many practice SAT's and ACT's, and feel good about achieving at least a 2100 SAT and a 33 ACT when I take them this year. Sophomore year's (weighted) GPA was 4.67, and I'm in five AP classes this year, include AP Calculus BC. For EC's, I run XC/track, tutor, take piano lessons, have an internship, and do volunteer hours. Nothing too special in that category. If it matters, I'm half Asian and from a middle class family.

I plan on going the pre-med route, and majoring somewhere in the field of biology. Anyways, I would love the names of reach, match, and safeties, preferably in the northeast. Thank you! :)

I suggest you start by getting your hands on some good college guide books (I like Princeton Review, Fiske, Insiders Guide but there are many other good ones out there) and do some reading.

Dude, SuperMatch in the column on the left. We can help you with specific schools but you’re majoring in biology and most schools in the northeast have good biology. thee are just too many schools to name.

What can your family afford? have you run any net price calculators? do you want an LAC, a large state uni, a private mid-size? Come back when you have some idea of the kinds of schools you can afford and you want.

I would highly recommend UVA it is ranked #2 public schools and it is in Charlottesville, Virginia ranked top 10 college towns and #27 best place to live. Charlottesville ,Virginia has 4 seasons and the weather is grate and fall is beautiful with orange , red and brown leaves covering the historic campus built by Thomas Jefferson. And tuition is not too high for out of state students it is about 36,000 but UVA has one of the best financial aid programs in the US. UVA also has a Pre-med program , UVA School of Medicine is one of the top med schools in the world. I would know this because i live in Charlottesville, Virginia the best town in the US.
