Please HELP me DECIDE! Running OUT of TIME!

I'm majoring in business, most likely with concentrations in finance and international businness. I'm a junior level transfer and need to make my decision on what school I'm going to very soon. Given the costs of tuition only, can you please rank the schools from best to worst taking into consideration social life, job placement, mba admissions, and educational quality - I would greatly appreciate it.. Thanks!

University of Miami (FL) - 14k in tuition per year

Arizona State: Carey - 12k in tuition per year

U of Georgia: Terry - 16k in tuition per year (must spend at least one semester in pre-business)

Monmouth University - basically free tuition (<1k/year) - local school

I would go with Miami.

I'd also go with Miami.

I'd go with Georgia.

I'd go with UGA.

I'd say U Miami. And Florida is a better place to live if you're a sun & tan person. Just my two cents.

Georgia on my mind

Athens, GA has more outdoors stuff than Smokey the Bear could handle, and there are tons of lakes that students go to. I'll give you a dollar for every pale person you see there.

Miamo is the best one I think (maybe I'm wrong please spare me) .
You ought to consider other factors as well.

I'd say Miami. It's a very strong business school, and more culturally diverse than UGA. Miami's campus is also closer to the city than UGA's.

Florida and Georgia, as states, both have solid job markets.

UGA followed closely by UM.

No one is feeling ASU? The business school was ranked higher than UM and UGA by USNews... (even though i dont like their rankings- BW is better)

Also with UGA, please take into consideration that I would be starting out in prebusiness, which to my knowledge means that I would have to spend an extra semester or 2 there.

Well if it's higher ranked clearly that's the best choice.

UM is not in a good location. i lived in Florida Miami and there is a lot of crimes, no security, the metrorail is bad, the buses are durty and crowded, people are not very nice.. I do not suggest miami to any college student.. better going to Gainsville or Tallahassee.... good luck everyone !!!

Hah, thats where I live and you know what, ^ is right.

I don't see an obvious basis for making a distinction on these schools based on a qualitative difference. I'd go with the location you'd most enjoy. Or, with the fact that you might enjoy continuing to live in NJ with $30,000 in your bank account.

I'm thinking UM.. I've already ruled UGA out because of not being guarenteed admission to the business school. Monmouth just doesn't have a good enough national reputation, and I feel spending an extra 30k to attend a far more prestigious school is a good investment. It comes down between ASU and UMiami. Umiami is obviously the better college, and they have a statistics major within the business school - management science, which I would love to co-major in. Also, UM is on the rise, and the new president of the business school just came over last year from Wharton and has a very impressive bio.

As for its location, I disagree with you.. sort of. Coral Gables is a rediculously upscale and safe area - the average price of real estate is greater than 1 million dollars.. but Miami is tricky. One second you're in a rich area, the next you're in the slums and have no idea how you got there. I've lived in bad areas throughout my life: Newark, NJ; Hillside, NJ, so I don't get uptight easy. When I was on the metrorail and waiting outside the government center in the middle of the night, I was shook. Probably why alot of the football players have been shot in the past.

UM and ASU are very different experiences. Both have solid programs, but campus life is different at each.

Miami has a lot of positives:
-Smaller size
-Better variety of nightlife
-Stronger overall reputation
-Very culturally diverse

But so does ASU:
-No humidity
-No storms
-More going on in the immediate neighborhood
-Cheaper off-campus housing

correction on last post, meant to say lived in hillside, family in newark, work in camden, not important to correct but i dont like putting up false information regardless of if its an anonymous forum. Anyway anyone else have any more suggestions on what school to attend and why? job placement in the NJ/NY area is important.

It's not Miami. It's in Coral Gables, nice area, I believe.

| University of Miami
