Please help me decide! Tomorrow's May 1st!

I’m currently on the waitlist for the University of Delaware and I plan on going there in the fall if I get off of the waitlist. I however need a backup school to go to in case that doesn’t happen. I can’t decide between Rutgers-New Brunswick or James Madison University. Rutgers is 40 minutes away and JMU is 4 hours and 40 minutes away. My major is undecided. I know that I would choose JMU in a heartbeat if it was only an hour away, but it’s not. I’m really close to my parents and sisters so I don’t know if I should go away that far. I’m shy and my sister who’s 16 is pretty much my best friend so I’d feel bad about leaving her. I don’t know what to do. The dealine to choose a college is tomorrow. Please help!

Your parents and sister are gonna be there whenever you want to come home. Don’t be unhappy at Rutgers. Go to JMU.

What is the cost difference between the two?
You have to live your life…don’t base it on your sister. In a couple of years she will go to college too.
Would be near home be a benefit? That is, would you need the support? Or would it be a benefit to gain some independence by going away.

Did you like Rutgers? if not, what is the issue?

@bopper JMU would cost about $9,000 more than Rutgers. I’m not sure how going 5 hours away to college would affect me. I want to become more independent yet I don’t want to miss my family. Rutgers was okay. I just didn’t really like the campus that much.

If your heart is set on Delaware and you don’t get off wait list, think about going to Rutgers for your first year and try to transfer to Delaware for sophomore year. It doesn’t sound like you are ready to go far and that is OKAY! Not every kid is ready to leave the nest just because you have turned 18! My kids can’t get away from me fast enough! Lol!

A suggestion on another thread is to flip a coin. When you see what comes up, if you suddenly want to go two out of three, then pick the other one  .

YOU HAVE POSTED THIS THREAD SO MANY TIMES. Listen to your gut. I’ve already suggested to you that you go to Rutgers, but please just go with your gut. That’s all I have left to say on the matter.

I ended up choosing James Madison University.

Yay!

Congratulations !
