Please help me decide...Wayne State vs Illinois Institute of Technology

Hello all,
I have just finished my undergrad in electrical engineering in New Delhi, India and got accepted into Wayne State Univ in Detroit, MI and Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago, IL for a grad program in electrical engineering.

Rankings in electrical engineering are pretty comparable....84 for IIT and 89 for WSU. I am concerned about job prospects after graduating. Is there anything that makes this an easy choice...

Any opinion is most welcome....

Thanks,
Deep

I don't know much about Wayne State but I do know that IIT has a large international student population if that is important to you. Some say the IIT campus is pretty ugly but it is in Chicago, a great city. Job prospects, of course, are going to depend on whether you can get a US employer to sponsor your visa - I would suspect but don't know for sure that IIT probably has a bit more experience in advising on this topic because of its large international population. Good luck!

yep, I would choose IIT over WSU too

btw-which college did you get your BE from?

Definately IIT is a better college as far as engineering goes and even research facilities are awesome. Don't be concerned about the rankings since there are many standards for consideration when calculating ranks and not just quality education. As far as education and research facilities including internships, job prospects etc go IIT is definately a good choice.

sorry to dig up an old thread… just wondering… what’s the attraction of IIT? why are there so many internationals there?
