Please Help Me Decide!

Okay..so here's my situation.
My crazy guidance counselor set me up with this schedule for my junior year and I think I will probably die because of it next year O_o.

AP English Lang.
AP Calculus (our school only has this course for one year, so I don't think we have BC)
AP Chem
AP Bio (should I switch this out for physics?)
AP USH2

So can anyone help me decide on what I should switch out? I am definitely set on AP Chem and AP English. I want to take Bio too, but I think doubling up in science might kill me. Should I just switch that out for regular physics and take bio senior year with AP physics? Do you think studying a lot over the summer will prepare me for this (if I do take 5 APs)?

*** If I switch bio for an elective, I would take AP Physics as a double period senior year...is this a better than taking it two years separately?

I'm really sorry if this post is wayy too long and it seems like I'm too indecisive for my own good..-_-

Thanks beforehand!!!

Does anyone want to give some advice?

AP USH 2 does not have its own AP exam, right? Meaning it’s not a CB exam but your own school’s curriculum.

If you really want to take Bio this year, then may be not taking USH 2 will lessen the load.

You think doubling up for science would kill you? No, what would totally kill you is taking AP Biology and AP U.S. History in the same year. However, if you’re on the block schedule and either one is one term and other the second term, you might be safe. However, if you are on a semester schedule, you would have to absorb so much information to get A’s and pass the AP exams. So, prepping during the summer would most likely help.

@aquamarina I think APUSH 2 is a continuation of the first half of APUSH. So, I believe he’s going to take the exam for APUSH, but he would most likely have to study, in his case, APUSH 1 again on his own.

That’s what I’m afraid of. I think APUSH will be my weakness (right now I’m in USH 1 Honors) so I plan on studying a lot during the summer for that.
My question now is if I should switch out bio or just study study study for that as well during the summer.

^ I agree, AP Bio and AP U.S could kill you. Your counselor is crazy for wanting you to double in science and take AP history.

AP Bio and Chem have a lot of work, not just study-wise. Considering that it’s your junior year (SATs, ACTs, etc), I would suggest maybe dropping Bio and taking Chem, physics regular, and U.S. You took U.S1 already right? So it’d kinda be a waste to not finish it.

Edit: U.S1=APUSH

Well, if you going for a science major in college, you shouldn’t switch out of biology. If you’re not going into a science major, it’s advisable that you switch out of biology. But really, it’s your decision. If you’re confident that you can handle all this, you should stick with this schedule.

I would switch AP Bio for AP Physics and just self-study the former. Calc. should be useful phys., thus it shouldn’t be too problematic. Good luck.

If you’re a math-science person looking toward a math-science major in college, then I would recommend taking college-prep level Physics with AP Chem and Calc; Bio, though a science, is really quite a bit like a humanities course in that it involves a lot of reading and memorization, as opposed to the statistical analysis and computative reasoning used in Physics and Chem.

If you’ve already completed a year of APUSH, I’d say taking the second year would be best.

As for Lang- the only class I don’t yet have direct experience with- I’ve heard it can be tiresome for non-humanities minds. If your school offers, perhaps, AP Lit instead, then that might be a better option…or, you might want to consider an honors level English course since Chem, Calc, Physics, and USH could be a bit heavy.

My final suggestion, then, is:
AP Calc AB
AP Chem
Physics
AP USH II
AP Lit or Honors English
a fluffy elective filler course ;)

Good luck, whatever you decide!
