Please help me: Direct Hits and AP US History

I’m sorry, but I do need some help here. I’ve been looking frantically for the Direct Hits: US HIstory in a flash book, but I have been unable to find it. I’ve looked at all of my book stores, libraries, etc. But nobody seems to have it. When searching on the internet, most bookstores online don’t seem to have it, and the one place I’ve been able to find it is Amazon, where the price is an absurd $455. Could someone please direct me to some place where I could find the book and purchase it for a reasonable price? I’d be willing to even buy from someone here, if necessary. Please help and thank you for your time

They stopped printing it, so it’s really hard to find.

sorry, no idea :frowning: I wouldn’t recommend the Barron’s APUSH book though. it’s a joke.

I’ll be selling mine soon (but be warned, it has a lot of feminine-colored highlighted sections and a few notes lol). PM me if you’re interested. :)

That specific book is out of print, but the same author made another book called “AP U.S. History : The Essential Content”. I looked through both and they are pretty much copy-and-paste the exact same book. It had the same side tips and everything, except the new one had a few more top ten lists, 100 MC questions, and four extra chapters dedicated to comparisons that frequently show up on the exam.

Good luck!

harmelion, would you recommend that book over crash course? I’m deciding between the two. I’m having trouble comparing the two due to that new book’s lack lack of review. Thanks!

This is why CC is so great. My DD has AMSCO and Crash Course, but wanted to understand difference with Direct Hits. Just went online and purchased the essentials which seems to have been published in March.

D used the Direct Hits (the essentials seems to be the same) last year. Perfect for cramming, especially if you are taking multiple AP tests.

Iowanerd, if you still want Direct Hits over the other book recommended above, I’m currently selling mine on Amazon.com for $74.99 and in good condition. (I know it’s a bit pricey, but the book is out of print and there are very few copies left.)

Why is the book out of print? That really sucks. I planned on using it to supplement my course next year. If anyone has one they’re willing to sell (and not for an absurd price like $75), I’d love a PM.

I’ll consider dropping the price if there are no buyers within the next couple of days. But seeing as many have already been sold for 75$ and higher (and usually within 2 days), I don’t think this will be the case.

Someone thinks they can get $455 for it…

$75 is a bit ridiculous.

Due to the new-found rarity of Direct Hits, your best bet is to just buy a hefty (but useful) book like AMSCO’s and complement it with Crash Course from REA. Those two together will make for a fantastic combination.

for GOODNESS SAKES please please don’t buy that book for $75. Realize that the Essential Content book that someone posted above is exactly, like almost word for word, the same as the Direct Hits book. Same author, same material, same tips, with extra things as well. The reason it’s out of print is because the author left Direct Hits, not because it is actually worth that much- a combination of silly auto-pricing programs and greed must have pushed the price up that high.

2redpartyhats is totally right. Buying DH for $75.00 is really stupid. DH and the Essential Content are the same book. Essential does have 100 more pages of information and costs about $16.00.

I’m told US History: Essential Content has the same information as Direct Hits plus more. Essential Content is a newer book by the same author (the author switched publishing companies). So if you are looking for DHits I’d go with Essential Content. The price on DH is ridiculous since it’s out of print. After doing a lot of research on these 2 books I ended up buying Essential Content. If it has the same information plus more I don’t see how you could go wrong.

I’m going to be taking APUSH next year and I’m thinking of getting the crash course review book, Princeton review and barron’s flashcards. How does that sound?
