<p>What’s the HEOP program? I’ve never heard of it before.</p>

I guess I’m not a good test taker lol.”- Consider taking the ACT. It’s different from the SAT, and you may do better on it.</p>
<p>“-Also, I can’t do much after school activities because my mom works late and I can’t leave my little sister home alone so she is my first priority.(IDK if i should include this in the application, might look like an excuse)”- It might not be a bad idea to include this in your application. In fact, some applications have a section that asks if there are any circumstances that may have affected your performance in school or participation in after school activities (and family obligations definitely count for this).</p>
<p>American and GWU are both great schools, however like you said they don’t have the HEOP program (not sure what it is but I’m assuming it has something to do with $$$?). I don’t know about American, but GWU is very expensive, however, they’re supposed to be pretty good about giving need-based financial aid to those who qualify (with a $20k income, you should definitely qualify). GWU is very strong in political science (the location is a big plus in this).</p>
